Code Tycoon - Update 1.47.0

On Steam

New Features

  • Report a bug: press F8, or use the settings or the main menu. Describe briefly what happened, add details and an email for follow-up questions if you like. Optionally a screenshot, the log (without your user name) and the current save game go along. The game pauses meanwhile. Reports go straight to the developer; known issues and their status are listed at code-tycoon.de/bugs.
  • Competition that matters: rivals snatch contracts in their niche and push prices down there. New studios open, weak ones close — and the »New Competition« event really brings a new studio to the market.
  • Takeovers you can inspect: before buying you see who comes along — with role, language and salary —, the real monthly cost, the reputation gain and a note when you lack desks. The same goes for takeover offers from your inbox.
  • Filters and sorting: maintenance contracts filter by language and status and sort by monthly fee, months left or client patience. Specializations filter by status and domain — and sort by which ones you are closest to unlocking.
  • Promotions show the new position, the old and new salary and the productivity gain before you confirm.
  • The market card shows the estimated amount of work a contract takes.
  • Maintenance offers name the programming language before you accept.
  • Moving office shows rent, desks, the pay rise and your expected monthly result — with a warning when the move would run at a loss with your current contracts.
  • Sandbox: choose your starting capital, from 10,000 to 10 million.

Balance

  • Prices follow the scope: a contract's complexity decides the work, and the work decides the price. The programming language is only a damped surcharge now. Clients in a hurry pay more, patient ones less.
  • Maintenance contracts: a longer term means a lower monthly rate — over the whole term they still earn more.
  • Investors take their share of every profitable month's profit. Funding rounds dilute your stake instead of adding up to more than 100 %. Existing saves are corrected on load.
  • Realistic: pay and deadlines are back to normal. In return, bigger offices raise contract pay only half as much on Realistic and Hardcore — the middle game stays contested.

Bug Fixes

  • The API, payment, file system, search, localization and accessibility expertise could never rise, which made some specializations unreachable.
  • Reputation: messages now say why, such as a late or buggy delivery, and show gains too. Losing standing with a client group is announced. Reputation is capped at 100 again — it could climb past 3,000 before.
  • The XP bar names the level it belongs to, even when levels were bought with skill points.
  • Buying out every competitor brought the original five back the next month.
  • On Linux with display scaling, clicks landed offset from the mouse pointer.
  • Japanese, Chinese and Thai text wraps correctly instead of running out of the window.
