More Drones & Steam Workshop

On Steam

Update 1.2.2.0

NEW DRONES

  • Artillery Drone: Fires explosive shells with a 30-radius blast, increasing by 5 per tier.

  • Shield Recovery Drone: On shield break, skips exhaustion and boosts regeneration for 3 seconds. Resets after drone death/revival or a new POI. Each tier increases regeneration seed.

  • Stasis Drone: Freezes an enemy’s movement and weapons for 2 seconds, gaining 0.2 seconds per tier. Recharges for 10 seconds afterward.

  • Vortex Drone: Fires a projectile that pulls nearby enemies toward its target for 2 seconds. Each tier improves fire rate and duration.

  • Deflector Drone: Blocks a lethal hit below its maximum hull, sacrificing itself. Restore the ship's Hull with the drone’s max hull.  Each tier adds +1 percentage point to the threshold. Slow revival.

  • Hijacker Drone: Attaches to a fodder ship without a drone and forces it to attack random enemy ships. Dies with its host. Tier 1 uses the host’s damage; each additional tier adds +1 damage.

Mod Support is back.

The mod system supports these eight categories with example mods via link and mod templates in the game's (version 1.2.2.0) zip folder:

  • Weapons
Add weapons or modify damage, firing/reload speed, ammo, spread, projectile speed, prices, names, icons, projectile PNGs, and OGG sounds. Use existing firing behaviors.

  • Ships
Add ships or change hull, shields, fuel, equipment slots, starting weapon, starter systems, price, unlock sector, descriptions, and ship artwork.

  • Systems / Loot
Add or modify modules, augments, drones, socket bonuses, and drawbacks. Change tier scaling, prices, collection level, icons, descriptions, and supported effects.

  • Enemies
Modify existing factions' colors, weapon/drone pools, tactics, artwork variants, combat stats, and encounter-selection rules.

  • POIs
Change spawn weights and requirements, encounter outcome pools, colors, icons, and location/market names.

  • Quests
Add quests or change names, tracked progress events, targets, reward types, reward tiers, credits, and XP.

  • Upgrades
Adjust costs, level caps, prerequisites, icons, descriptions, and tree positions. Add or remove nodes using existing gameplay effects.

  • Localization
Add languages, translate UI and narrative text, and provide custom fonts. Templates include the complete English database.

Main limitation: JSON mods reuse mechanics implemented in the game. They cannot add arbitrary GML code, invent new quest events, or create a working effect just by naming it. For example, writing “+10% fire rate” in a ship's perk description does not grant that bonus. Shared canonical terms and some catalog names intentionally remain English.

Open Community Localization

I'm also opening up Community Localization for Void Salvage.

As some of you might have noticed, the current localization in Void Salvage is... pretty crap.

This is what happens when you take the cheap route.

So, instead of pretending otherwise, I'm opening up Community Localization.

Inside the game’s folder (Steam\\steamapps\\common\\Void Salvage) you’ll find a localization.zip including all the CSV for 14 languages. If you speak another language and want to help improve the translation, you can use the sheet to create a localization mod and share it with the community.

If a community translation ends up complete, accurate, and well-maintained, I may also consider integrating it into the game officially.
