Driveloop: Survivors · public · first seen
Hey, Loopers!
Before anything else: we owe you an apology and an explanation.
This update took way longer than we wanted, and instead of pretending everything is fine, we'd rather be honest with you: Driveloop's sales aren't enough to cover our salaries, so we've had to take day jobs to afford small luxuries like rent and food. Turns out landlords have a strict no-Steam-reviews payment policy. We asked. Twice.
What that means in practice: we are not stopping. Not even close. We just have fewer hours per week to throw at the game, so updates will land slower than we'd like. Driveloop isn't abandoned, it's just doing the same thing a lot of you are doing right now: holding down a job so it can keep doing the thing it actually loves.
Thank you for being patient with us. Now let's talk about the Update 5!
A proper flamethrower. Roast everything in front of you and watch the horde go up in smoke. Perfect for crowds, tight corners, and anyone who thinks bullets are too subtle. Burn your enemies down!
A whole new family of companions to build around:
• Relay Drone: a support drone that grants you buffs while chipping in with a bit of damage of its own.
• Aegis Drone: a healer drone focused on keeping you alive with defensive support.
• Arsenal Drone: an attack drone that cycles between 3 different weapons every few seconds. Pure chaos, on your side for once.
The soundtrack just got a massive upgrade. We've added 33 new metal tracks, bringing the total to 46. On top of that, songs no longer loop, they flow from one into the next, so your runs get a continuous setlist instead of the same riff on repeat.
Hope abilities now get their own 3D models displayed in the main menu, giving them proper visual representation and better showcasing what they bring to your run.
• Ironwind, Rebounder and Nullstorm each received another passive upgrade at in-game level 7.
• Music now ducks down when you open an upgrade or pause menu, so you can actually hear yourself think.
• Minimap clarity improved for better readability at a glance.
• Weapons now rotate smoothly and no longer snap to new positions, for a more realistic feel.
• Performance improvements across the board, with a special pass on the Paris map.
• Fixed many crashes reported by the community.
• Fixed several memory leaks for more stable long runs.
• Crit color for damage numbers is back where it belongs.
• Damage numbers are no longer blurry.
We're going to keep building on this run's foundations: more Spare Parts and synergies, more weapons, more crew members, more vehicles, more maps and the content we've been teasing for a while now. The plans haven't changed, the timeline has.
We'd rather ship slower and keep being straight with you than go quiet and leave you guessing. If an update takes a while, it's because we're building it in the evenings and on weekends, not because we walked away.
Keep looping, Loopers. See you in the chaos!
Leaving a Steam review helps us tremendously as a small team, and right now it genuinely matters more than ever. It's one of the best ways for new players to discover the game, and the best way to help us get back to full-time development.
