v0.5.0 is a major update that rebuilds the game's visuals from the ground up. Character motion, the fields you explore, and the title screen and key art have each been made anew. The rules and controls are unchanged, but every field now has a rich character of its own, and the characters move as if they were alive.
Every character, ally and enemy alike, now moves with smooth animation. Each action — walking, readying, attacking, and blocking — has become far more expressive, elevating the overall game experience. The character portrait shown beside the message window now moves in step with the current action as well. Attack effects have also been renewed.
Field graphics are now built room by room rather than tile by tile. Treating each room and corridor as a single image greatly widens the range of visual expression, resulting in rich textures and finely detailed, intricately drawn fields. Each floor has its own theme — from natural caves through buried ruins to an unholy temple — so the scenery changes as you descend the dungeon.
The title screen's logo and background have been replaced with new key art that conveys the world of the game and the intensity of its battles at a glance. The store page and Steam library images will be updated to match in the coming days.
Added an option to turn off the range display shown while holding the attack button.
Fixed an issue where the game could occasionally halt with an error right after the hero fell or right after loading.
With this update, save data from previous versions can no longer be carried over. If you have save data from v0.4.0 or earlier, "Continue" will not appear, so please start a new game.
