v0.23 — Speak naturally, leave any room, pick up right where you stopped
This update answers the two things we heard most: "it only understands me if I speak word by word" and "if I leave a room, I lose everything."
Speech recognition
- Sentences are now judged by their content words. Say it at normal speed — a swallowed "the" or "a" no longer fails you.
- Your microphone check setting finally reaches every speaking room. A weaker mic gets a more forgiving match.
- Miss the same sentence twice and it's struck out for free — no gold, no grinding — and you move on. Struck sentences are not marked as learned, so they come back on a later visit.
Your progress is safe
- Leave a speaking room mid-way and come back: the same sentences are waiting, and the ones you finished stay finished.
- Every adventure remembers where you left it. Walk home from the Hotel in the Escape Room, return through the portal tomorrow, and you'll be standing on the same tile — or choose "Start" to begin again.
- The game now saves itself on every map change. Save stones are gone; you never have to remember to save.
- Existing saves keep working — nothing to reset.
Quality of life
- The Home Stone no longer has a countdown or a gold fee. Go home whenever you like.
- Room progress, journal entries and your phrasebook are all carried in the save.
Under the hood
- Fixed five effect calls that could crash the game once the dark-cloud weather was used.
- Dozens of new automated checks run against the real game before every build — freezes, missing files, broken plugin calls.
Thank you for the reviews and reports — they shaped this update directly. Keep them coming.
