Patch 0.13.22

On Steam

Hello Wyldernook community!

Today's patch includes several balance changes, as well as new art for several cards, which will go live on September 18th, 00:00 UTC time.

Behind the scenes, we're working on Emotes and Ranked, and aim to have these features into your hands soon!

Balance Changes

  • Shponglify now transforms every target into another ally card of +1 cost, regardless of if it's an ally or enemy.

Shponglify has turned out to be an extremely versatile way to disrupt the enemy, and casting it on the enemy's characters has become the main way of using it. Our goal with this change is to keep it the same while targeting your own allies, but nerf it slightly for the use case of targeting enemies. Now there's a higher chance that what you transform the enemy's key pieces into will still be something dangerous you have to contend with.

  • The Uniter now costs 6 resources, up from 5.

As the card pool has expanded and there are now new ways of getting multiple copies of The Uniter in play, we've seen how powerful that sort of deck can be. Additionally, we have upcoming designs that will lead to even more ways to gain extra copies of The Uniter, so we're bumping up The Uniter's cost slightly so that it takes one more turn to get this engine rolling.

  • Dreams of Humanity now costs 4 resources, up from 3.

Dreams of Humanity has been contentious since its release at the start of the month. We're excited to see all the various inventive uses of the card though, and don't want to change its textbox without doing lighter changes first. We're increasing the card's cost by one to see if that makes the card land in a healthier space.

  • Potion of Youth now averages out the amount of health between you and the targeted player, rather than swapping the health.

  • Potion of Youth now costs 7 resources, down from 9.

Despite not being a meta-defining card currently, we've come to the conclusion that the life swap effect of Potion of Youth isn't a good fit for Wyldernook, at any resource cost. With Potion of Youth, a player who was winning the game can suddenly feel like it was snatched away from them and lose on the spot, without any opportunity to respond. We've decided instead to rework the card to something healthier for the game. As a result, we've also reduced the resource cost to 7, since the new effect is far weaker.

  • Kale the Conqueror now gives all allies +1 Power, rather than just Gremlin allies.

  • True Love's Kiss now costs 1 resource, up from 0, and also draws a card.

  • Avenges the Tribes is now a 2 Devotion card, down from 3.

  • Library Intruder now has 2 health, up from 1.

  • Elusive Pixie now has 2 health, up from 1.

  • Faerie Godmother now has 3 attack, up from 2.

  • Faerie Eater now costs 3 resources, down from 4.

All these cards were struggling to find homes in decks, and in many cases weren't being played even in situations when they would be good answers to the meta (such as True Love's Kiss and Faerie Godmother). We're giving these cards small boosts to help them see more play.

Other Changes

Updated matchmaking so you are less likely to get the same opponent twice in a row.
