Hi farmers, 😄
Thank you for continuing to play Farm Factory Simulator during Early Access.
We would also like to thank everyone who has shared feedback, suggestions, and bug reports through the Steam Discussions and the in-game Bug Report / Feedback feature.
Your reports and feedback continue to help us review which parts of the game need better controls, clearer information, smoother automation behavior, or performance improvements.
In this update, we focused on improving factory organization, making Storage easier to monitor, reducing repetitive box handling, improving Farm EXP information, fixing important Machine behavior issues, and adding several performance and quality setting improvements.
Here is what is included in this update.
A new Machine Box Storage system has been added.
Machine Box Storage is available in the Equipment Tab and can be used to store Machine and Conveyor boxes that have been packed.
This should help reduce the number of Machine boxes piling up in the Supply Area, especially for players who already own many Machines or often rearrange their factory layout.
Machine Box Storage stores boxes by Machine type and Machine level. This means the same Machine at different upgrade levels will use different slots.
Players can store one box at a time, or hold the interaction button to store multiple matching boxes at once. This hold interaction method is a new interaction we introduced in this update, more details in later section of this devlog.
Players can also take boxes back from Machine Box Storage or sell the contents of a slot directly from the rack.
Selling boxes from Machine Box Storage gives the same value as selling the box normally.
Please note that storing a Machine box will reset its custom name and saved settings. The Machine level will still be kept.
A new Storage Monitoring has been added.
This control station can be purchased from Machine → Store.
Storage Monitoring allows players to view the contents of their Storage Machines from one place, without needing to walk to each Storage Machine individually.
The panel includes two views:
By Commodity
Shows each commodity and the total amount stored across all Storage Machines, along with where the commodity is stored.
By Storage Shows each Storage Machine and the items stored inside it.
Storage Machines with custom names will also show their custom names in the panel, making it easier to identify specific Storage locations in larger factories.
This first version is focused on monitoring Storage contents. It does not move items between Storage Machines yet.
Boxes that arrive in the Supply Area are now arranged more neatly.
Previously, purchased boxes could spread around the Supply Area and become harder to manage as the number of Machines and Conveyors increased.
With this update, boxes in the Supply Area will organize themselves into cleaner stacks based on their category.
This should make the Supply Area easier to read, reduce visual clutter, and help players manage newly purchased Machines or Conveyor parts more comfortably.
Box handling for Machine and Equipment has been improved to reduce repetitive actions.
Players can now hold the pickup button on a box to pick up multiple matching boxes within range.
A short press will still pick up one box as usual.
Players can also hold the Sell button on a box to sell multiple matching boxes through one confirmation popup. The confirmation will show the number of boxes being sold and the total value before the sale is completed.
This should make it easier to clean up duplicate boxes, manage large purchases, or reorganize the Supply Area after expanding your factory.
Bulk box pickup also now follows the Fast item transfer setting.
Farm EXP from Cashier sales has been updated.
Cashier sales now give 5 Farm EXP per item sold, instead of giving a fixed amount per transaction like before.
This means customers who buy more items will now provide Farm EXP based on the number of items they purchase.
The Farm EXP information is also now shown when hovering over the Cashier, so players can see how much Farm EXP is earned from Cashier sales.
Farm EXP information has also been improved in other areas of the game.
The Daily Report now separates Farm EXP sources more clearly, including:
Farm EXP (Cashier)
Farm EXP (Drone)
This should make it easier to understand where your Farm EXP came from each day.
The term Farm EXP has also been made more consistent across the game.
Machine Management Control has received a new upgrade confirmation option.
Players can now choose whether Machine speed upgrades from Machine Management should ask for confirmation or apply immediately.
By default, the game will still ask for confirmation before applying upgrades.
When confirmation is disabled, the upgrade action will be faster, but it will still only buy one upgrade level at a time.
Other checks still apply. If the player does not have enough balance, does not meet the required level, or the Machine is already at its maximum speed level, the game will still show the appropriate message.
A new Playstyle option has been added for Machine interaction hold duration.
Players can now choose between:
Shorter
Default
This setting adjusts how long the interaction button needs to be held for certain Machine interactions, such as moving a Machine or opening the Machine rename action.
This should make Machine interaction feel more comfortable for players who prefer shorter hold actions.
Some actions that are not part of Machine interaction, such as selling animals or removing plants, still use their existing hold duration.
Machine Settings popups have received several usability improvements.
For Picker Machine rotation settings, the popup now shows the remaining rotation count more clearly.
A Reset button has also been added, allowing players to restore the remaining rotation count to the configured value without needing to change the setting manually.
Gamepad and stick navigation inside the settings popup has also been improved so the selection flow better matches the visible two-column layout.
The popup layout has also been adjusted to better handle longer translated text.
Graphics quality settings have been improved.
The Low, Medium, and High quality settings now have clearer differences in how they affect rendering, shadows, and distant object detail.
This should make the lower settings more useful for players who need better performance, while keeping higher settings available for players who prefer stronger visuals.
Several performance improvements have been added for larger and denser factories.
Conveyor item processing has been optimized, especially for very long conveyor lines with many items moving at once.
Some small objects now use lighter rendering behavior, and distant world items can be handled more efficiently when they are far from the player.
These changes should help reduce the performance cost of large factories with many Machines, items, and conveyor routes.
Save writing has been improved for reliability.
The game now handles save writing in the background and uses a safer writing process to reduce the risk of damaging an existing save if an unexpected crash happens during saving.
This change is focused on making save handling more reliable, especially for larger saves.
Supply Station internal storage has been optimized.
Items inside the Supply Station hopper are now stored more efficiently as item counts, instead of remaining as active physical objects while waiting.
This should help reduce the processing load in farms with many stored items.
This change also improves how items are handled when being added to the Supply Station, so the hopper behavior is more consistent with its intended function.
Old saves remain supported, and existing Supply Station contents should be handled automatically when loaded.
Fixed an issue where some Machines could turn off unexpectedly and stay off after saving or loading.
This issue was related to Machine monitor data being applied incorrectly in certain situations, such as when a Machine was being placed or interacted with while not fully active.
The fix should prevent Machines, including Picker Machines, from turning off unexpectedly without player input.
Fixed an issue where the Output or Failed count on Processing Machine monitors could appear stuck at 1 even when the Machine was empty.
The monitor should now update its displayed item counts more accurately.
Fixed an issue where the default state for starter Store Racks in a new game could start without accepting any commodity.
These starting Store Racks now begin with Any Commodity, making them easier to use before players learn more advanced rack settings.
Store Racks that players buy themselves keep their existing behavior and start with None (no selected commodity). Existing saves are not changed by this fix.
Fixed an issue where several Conveyor Machines were listed under the wrong category.
Rotary Splitter Conveyor, Throughput Conveyor, and Junction Conveyor are now placed in the correct Conveyor category.
This should make them easier to find when buying or managing Machines.
Fixed issues related to Starter Machine direction and placement.
The reverse direction arrow has been corrected, and the placement grid should now appear properly again in sandbox mode.
Several Machine collider and interaction areas have been adjusted.
This includes improvements to Filter Machine and Sorter interaction areas, as well as Supply Area box organizer areas.
These adjustments should make interaction and placement behavior feel more consistent.
Fixed several localization issues where parts of the Daily Statistic panel could appear in English in some supported languages.
Several affected translation entries have been corrected.
Fixed an issue where some Steam language mappings were not read correctly.
This affected several languages and could cause the game to select or display the wrong language entry.
The language mapping has now been corrected.
Farm EXP wording has been reviewed and made more consistent across supported languages.
This includes several tutorial, notification, Daily Report, and tooltip texts related to Farm EXP.
