WELCOME TO THE MEGAFACTORY

major update

MISERY · build 24700593 · published

On SteamNotes only · this build shipped before we watched the app

Citizens of Zaslavie, dear comrades, please listen to the important message from the Commissary!

The long-promised new update is here. Please welcome FACTORY, a brutal industrial biome.

The factory district is the metal heart of Zaslavie, pumping milk and diesel for the glory of our beautiful motherland. At least it was, while it lasted… Now it lies in ruins but is far from dead. It is the most inhabited (or should we say infested?) region.

So oil up your guns, comrades.

And we are talking not just about new mutants. United North forces have been spotted there, and that can’t be a good sign. What are these rats doing there?

The Factory is huge, spreading far and deep into the underground and full of haunting beauty. It is a new standard for content in MISERY, and we will soon update and refresh all locations to meet this standard and add new locations and POIs across all biomes.

The new biome is great, but there is more! Here is what has changed in the zone:

  1. New biome - Factory: You can meet this biome on 15+ shinings; Bunker is pushed to 25+.

  2. 5 new mutants, all inspired by ideas from the community. Thank you, comrades!

  3. New POI in Bunker biome.

  4. New threat - GRAD: The UN is trying to deliver some supplies to their maggots, but the Zaslavie Armed Forces will not tolerate it. Do NOT try to reach enemy supply crates, or you will be struck by artillery!

  5. Over 50 new items: Clothes, armor, items, decorations, and furniture.

  6. Headshots now inflict more damage: Shoot precisely, comrades!

  7. Now you can block attacks with a melee weapon.

  8. New hit sounds.

  9. New Crafting Station: Butcher Table where you can craft taxidermy figures from slain mutants.

  10. New Crafting Station: Construction Station where you can craft everything for building and decorations.

  11. QoL improvements in building mechanics.

  12. Wallpapers: Now you can craft various wallpapers and decorate your bunker.

  13. You can now paint/decorate each side of the wall separately and decorate default walls and floors for better bunker design.

  14. You can now craft custom signs for better navigation.

  15. New electrical items: Advanced splitter and advanced combiner with more nodes for advanced engineering.

  16. Now you can sit on chairs, beds, benches, and yes, TOILETS.

  17. Dwarves can now walk in the bunker and use vertical ladders.

  18. Guests joining the server now have a timeout for picking up items and destroying structures.

  19. Now you can turn OFF and ON player collision in settings.

  20. Now you can tune the ADS sensitivity separately from the mouse sensitivity.

  21. Stacked items counter enlarged for better readability.

  22. Weapon animations and reload bugs fixed.

  23. Workbench items no longer disappear when loading a saved game.

  24. Anomaly settings in custom mode fixed (swapped).

  25. Bug fixed: Starting a hardcore mode game would not affect previous saves.

  26. Text input fields (server name, code, etc.) bugs fixed.

  27. Gas Masks overlay fixed.

  28. Bomber plane sound fixed: No more silent bombings.

  29. MISERY is coming to GeForce Now later in August.

  30. Ah yes, various bug fixes and improvements!

That was a huge update, and there are definitely some rough edges here and there. Factory is designed to be the most combat-heavy biome. Our advice: don't pick every fight, but always be ready to send some lead down those factory halls.

Please give us your thoughts on how we are doing. As you can see, we listen carefully and will fine-tune new content, difficulty, loot, and rewards in follow-on patches based on your feedback.

More fantastic news: A MISERY SHORT FILM IS COMING

We're also working on a short MISERY film with director Nikita Ordynskiy, creator of the Papers, Please and Beholder short films. We expect it to drop by the end of the year. Here are some teasers from the backstage. Your support allows us to fund projects like that, and we are working on several more surprises that we will announce later.

Thank you for your support, suggestions, ideas, letters, constructive critique, and all the love.

For Zaslavie!
