Broadcast Empire’s major gameplay update is here

This release is a big step toward the deeper TV management game Broadcast Empire is meant to become. Your station is no longer just a list of shows and time slots. It now has an identity, an audience, infrastructure limits, commercial pressure, live rights obligations, sponsor targets, talent consequences, and a much more strategic schedule.

Major Gameplay Additions

  • Station Strategy: choose your channel positioning, track audience mood, follow genre trends, and build a clearer identity over time.

  • Audience Segments: families, sports fans, youth viewers, prestige drama viewers, and news loyalists now respond differently to your schedule.

  • Infrastructure Projects: upgrade studios, newsroom, outside broadcast, ad sales, distribution, broadcast hours, satellite, cable, and VOD apps.

  • Live Rights Market: bid for major live events, accept exclusive approaches, manage fixed broadcast slots, renew rights, and pay penalties if you miss contractual obligations.

  • Live Event Sponsorship: sell event sponsorship and earn bonus income when live broadcasts hit audience targets.

  • Film Library: sign exclusive studio deals and schedule two-hour films as one-off broadcast events.

  • Smarter Scheduler: expanded tools for filtering, auto-filling, copying days, highlighting slot fit, and handling live/film scheduling rules.

  • Sponsor Briefs: weekly commercial briefs now reward focused programming and penalise missed audience commitments.

  • Board and Regulator Pressure: quarterly goals, complaints, scrutiny, and financial consequences make the business side sharper.

  • Talent and Prestige Systems: talent can build fame, burn out, demand better slots, or drift toward rivals. Strong shows can gain momentum, awards attention, and long-term prestige.

  • Steam Achievements: new achievements now support many of the major new systems.

Why This Matters

Broadcast Empire is moving further into proper management-sim territory. A successful station now needs more than one hit show. You need a coherent identity, the right infrastructure, sensible risk management, commercial partners, and a schedule that knows who it is serving.A cheap repeat strategy can work. A prestige broadcaster can work. A sports-heavy channel can work. But each path now brings trade-offs in sponsor appeal, audience loyalty, regulator scrutiny, rival aggression, and long-term growth.

Thank You

This update is a major foundation release. It gives Broadcast Empire more of the dense, consequence-heavy strategy layer I’ve always wanted for it. Thank you to everyone following development, testing builds, and giving feedback as the game grows.
