Upcoming Updates & Priorities

Heya folks, it's been a little over a week since the game launched! I'm glad that reception to the game has been very positive outside of a couple large sticking points. The list of priorities below has some details on plans to deal with those sticking points.

The plan for development during the game's Early Access period is at least one content update a month. There may be smaller content updates in between these large monthly ones -- the first of these smaller updates will be this month.

Update 0.2 - October:

A small update coming soon, most likely late next week. It will have portraits for the remaining characters, additional dialogue scenes, and 2 new unlockable weapons, and a section in the journal for board objects where you can see some detailed info on them.

It may have support for non-pixel perfect scaling, but so far it's been surprisingly difficult to get that functioning cleanly.

Update 0.3 - November:

The Monthly Update for November will add either 1 or 2 new enemies, and colorblindness settings. You can expect additional dialogue scenes along with new weapons and/or keepsakes in each monthly update, but the exact amount is up in the air.

If only one character makes it in to 0.3, the other will be added in a smaller update later in the month.

Here's a preview of the next 4 enemies that will be added to the game:

Count Nikita, Whiskey The Pony The Imp, Bixup, and Bobby Bockenberg

Development Priorities:

While each monthly update will bring new gameplay content of some form, the highest priorities for development are things outside of the regular content updates. There's no long-term time frame for these, but in order of importance:

  1. Non-pixel perfect scaling. This will massively improve readability on 1600x900 screens, with smaller improvements for Steam Deck and 1440p displays. It will be a toggleable option.

  2. Colorblindness accessibility settings to change the 5 colors used by the board. Readability of the board is the highest priority here and the focus of the settings coming in 0.3.0. May include more settings in later updates.

  3. Native support for East Asian fonts, along with support for non-English Latin characters. Hanzi (汉字) is the highest priority here. May be in 0.3.0 but support for TTF fonts in the game is inconsistent. Not guaranteed to be that early.

  4. Ability to compare weapons from a treasure chest with equipped weapons.

  5. Smoother new player experience. Reception from players is very positive if they stick around, but the current implementation is definitely overwhelming for new players. Introduction of new gameplay elements will be slowed down and the initial hours of the game will be a more curated experience. There will likely be a button in the options menu to skip this slower introduction, if desired.

  6. Board inspector, letting you look at specific objects on the board to see their current and max HP, resistances, and a description of any special traits they may have.

  7. Attack Log -- the way damage is calculated isn't really conducive to detailed breakdowns showing what keepsakes/memories are contributing to your damage, so this is something where I'm not sure what the final product will look like. Still, even a relatively simple breakdown showing how much damage was dealt by an attack and how much of that was from critical strikes would be useful.

Thank you for your support, it means the world to me :)

I don't have any champagne. ~L.T. WhitingCommunity6 Oct 2026The Price Of A SodaDevil Peach Soda is entering Early Access! This is a little later than intended. About 3 years later. One of the caveats of being a solo developer -- I've had a couple health issues over these 3 years and each time it was followed by struggling to catch up on life. But the game is in a good state for release, I'm extremely proud of what's there, and I think it's extremely good value for the pri…
