Demo version 1.1.0 is the update where s[TOR-Y]telling stopped being a solo experience. Everything below is live in the free demo right now — it's the same foundation the full game launches on come October 28 — and it all runs on a local AI, on your own PC, with nothing sent to the cloud. If you've been waiting to see what the game becomes with other people in the room: this is it.
Why summon one mind when you can convene nine? Put up to nine s[TOR-Y]s in a single shared scene. Each one answers you — and each other — in its own voice, with its own agenda.
You direct the room: after each event, choose exactly who replies and in what order, or shuffle it and let the scene surprise you.
Edit the roster mid-chat: bring a new character into a running scene, or send one away, without restarting.
Know your cast: click any portrait mid-scene to read that s[TOR-Y]'s full description without leaving the chat.
Invite friends through Steam and play the same scene together, in two very different flavors:
Party Mode: every player is their own inhabitant of the scene, taking turns around the table while the s[TOR-Y]s react to each of you individually.
Free Mode: co-op chaos — everyone proposes rival events for the same turn, the table votes, and the winner drives the scene.
Guests need no GPU: the AI runs on the host's machine, so friends can join from any 64-bit PC — laptop included.
Voice chat built in, with per-player mute and mic volume controls.
Lobbies, invites and matchmaking with visibility controls, late joining (you get a snapshot of the scene so far), and kick votes for when someone won't stop insisting they're Santa Claus.
Create s[TOR-Y]s together: the creation wizard works inside multiplayer sessions, and custom characters sync to everyone in the room.
Play the campaign as a party and share the dossier at the finale; music player and scene gallery available mid-session.
Streaming a session? Give your chat a seat at the table. Viewers on Twitch and YouTube type !story events in chat and they land directly in the scene as the Audience's turn — the s[TOR-Y]s answer them like any other player. Audience voting can be toggled per session.
s[TOR-Y]telling now ships native builds for Linux and macOS (Apple Silicon), each with its own local AI runtime. Multiplayer is fully cross-play between Windows, Linux and Mac, and Steam Cloud carries your saves between machines.
The game is now s[TOR-Y]telling: Closed Loop, with a new logo and intro.
Characters take more initiative: core prompt tuning so the cast pushes the story instead of only reacting.
Smoother chats: the AI's streaming text is rendered separately from the committed log, so long sessions no longer stutter while a reply is being written.
Smarter session summaries for long stories.
Safety filtering improvements, including immediate classification of what you submit — faster feedback, fewer false blocks.
Interface polish: sound effects on interactions, a reworked character-selection screen, refreshed translations.
s[TOR-Y]telling: Closed Loop is part of Steam Next Fest in October, and the full game — the complete cast of 50 s[TOR-Y]s and the whole campaign — launches on October 28. If you enjoy the demo, a wishlist is the single most helpful thing you can do: Wishlist s[TOR-Y]telling: Closed Loop
