Demo update: bigger on wide monitors, and it gets further while you're away

Two people told me the strip was too small to read on a wide monitor, and one of them said it was sitting on top of something they use all day. Both of those are fixed.

Settings has a UI size option now. On a 1440p or ultrawide screen the game picks the larger size for you the first time you run it, and every window scales with it, not just the strip. There is an Always on top toggle if you would rather other windows cover it, and a Left, Center, Right setting for where it parks along the bottom.

The bigger change is one nobody asked for. I logged a full session the way a new player would actually play it, and the game was paying about sixteen times more for sitting and watching it than for leaving it alone, which is the opposite of the point. Energy drains half as fast now, and an empty bar still earns three times what it used to. In a 32 minute test where I started training and walked away, the hero used to finish at level 2 and now finishes at level 3.

I also found that a won run would sit on the payout screen forever waiting for a click. If you won a dungeon and stepped away, nothing happened until you came back. It returns to camp on its own after 25 seconds now. Two crashes are gone as well, one of them from clicking the dungeon entrance while the Guide is still talking. The download is about 20 percent smaller too.

Pocket Adventurer is in Steam Next Fest starting October 19. The demo stays up through the fest and after it, and the full game is out November 3 at $4.99, 20 percent off the first week. If you have played it, a wishlist is the thing that helps most right now.
