Up until now, the original version of Moon River has been playable as a public Demo. We wanted to make sure that the eventual "proper" release on Steam offered something new and exciting!
On June 19th, a special 2.0 update for Moon River will be released, marking the full official release on Steam!
This is the biggest content update the game has ever received, including new side regions to explore, an expanded story, and a fresh coat of paint on the game's graphics.
A new optional side region will be added to each main area. Each features new music, new characters to meet, and other things to find. I can't tell you where they are, you'll have to figure out where to find them.
Additional story content can be found somewhere in each of the new side regions. This will expand on the past of your player character, The Mariner, and what originally started them down the path of the game.
That's right! This update will include a touch-up of all the environments & overall graphics. When I originally made this game, I set some restrictions for the way sprites are drawn to save time, but I ended up breaking those rules anyway. This update will use the game's palette to its full potential, with more shading & anti-aliasing in the environment to make it nicer & more immersive. (*Character sprites & usable objects will still be 1-bit style so they can still pop out more.*)
As with any update, more bug fixes & patches will be applied (as well as some more long-unnoticed typo corrections).
Thank you to everyone who's played, wishlisted and shared this game! Your care & gameplay feedback has really uplifted this game to a much higher level. With this 2.0 update, everything that I felt was missing will be added and I can finally consider this game to be fully realized. Save the date!
