LTWD Update: Saved Teams, Combat Fixes & Sanctuary Improvements
Our latest update brings a big round of improvements from LTWD playtesting: persistent team progression, fixes for boss arenas and invisible obstacles, better equipment and shopping controls, and more voices throughout your adventures.
LTWD — Leaderboards Till We Die! — is available directly from the normal live game. Select the mode from the game menu to play. It remains a preview in active development, as shown on its in-game screen.
Saved progression for your team
- Gold, unlocks, research, banked items, and unused supplies now persist for your exact two-player team. Each player keeps their own wallet.
- Your team's permanent progression follows that pairing when you change heroes or complete a normal host transfer. Playing with a different partner starts a separate team's progression.
- Permanent team progression is separate from your current run: levels, XP, temporary upgrades, revival allowance, and carried or equipped gear do not become permanent unlocks. Existing sanctuary saves still retain the active build for that saved run.
Combat and world fixes
- Boss arena boundaries now apply to both players, including guest movement and dash/blink destinations.
- Both players now see the boss's current and maximum health correctly.
- Fixed invisible obstacles caused by cleared scenery remaining in the other player's collision world. Cleared areas stay clear when nearby world sections reload.
- Fixed Zane's Overload Rush pulling players back toward the world origin in distant LTID and LTWD biomes. Rush now respects nearby solid scenery and the current boss arena.
Equipment, upgrades, and sanctuary shopping
- Open equipment directly with I or controller View. Updated hero, equipment, backpack, and comparison panels make loadouts easier to read.
- Drag items onto compatible equipment slots, or use controller quick equip. Selection follows your item when the inventory updates.
- Upgrade choices now show their effects and before-and-after stat values through mouse tooltips and controller focus descriptions.
- Death's supply store now features seven illustrated supply cards, a larger item preview, clear effects and prices, stack counts, your personal team wallet, and dedicated Buy and Back controls.
- Browsing the store no longer risks an accidental purchase. Purchases wait for the host's response, failures explain what went wrong, and inventory updates preserve your selection and controller focus.
- Co-op ability and quick-item buttons now use their matching icons, with explanatory ability tooltips.
- Death's revive menu now shows clearer wallet and party information and keeps focus stable. Refreshing the menu no longer repeats the sealed-fate voice line.
- Return Scroll descriptions now correctly explain the existing shared, protected two-second return in co-op.
Party flow and controller improvements
- Improved waiting-room controller navigation across the roster and player sections, with clearer ready portraits and a ready sound.
- After a party defeat, either player can return both players to hero selection without disconnecting once progress has finished saving.
- The Memorial now opens the co-op Steam leaderboards for the player who interacts with it. The pause menu also provides a direct route to duo boards.
- Improved menu layouts at 720p and 800p, and stopped the objective tracker from covering local menus. Full-screen menus block clicks behind them while the shared game continues.
More voices in co-op
- Restored co-op hero voice triggers for abilities, entering the world, extraction, death, low health, leveling, upgrades, rare loot, objectives, and ambient moments.
- Added nine teammate exchanges across supported pairings, including new Zane and Ashlee banter.
- Added spoken introductions for all seven bosses and restored nearby enemy vocals for the guest.
- Added pacing and duplicate protection to help dialogue stay readable during combat and prevent repeated lines from routine updates.
Thank you to everyone testing LTWD and sharing feedback. Both players should exit the game and install the latest Steam update before starting a new co-op session. Keep sending us the bugs you find and the improvements you want to see!
