The release of 0.18 went well! In subsequent days, we released a bunch of small updates, bringing the current version number to 0.18.0.9. They’re mostly tiny fixes, but some are worth extra attention.
The biggest one concerns Remote Play Together, which can be used to play Split Screen Colony Survival with friends on distant computers, even if they don’t own Colony Survival.
We developed Split Screen for use on one machine, where mouse & keyboard + controller is the most common solution for multiple inputs. But when linking up two machines remotely, double mouse & keyboard suddenly becomes a much more obvious solution. That’s actually quite complicated to get functional, and we hadn’t developed that yet.
But of course, it is technically possible - and 0.18.0.3 granted this ability to everybody!
Then 0.18.0.6 introduced two new significant changes. NPC pathfinding was improved to better deal with very large structures, and that doubled the efficiency of our pathfinding algorithm in general.
Elevator controls have also been enhanced. If you’re in an elevator with multiple stations, holding jump will automatically make the next station send you up; holding crouch will make the next station send you down.
After we released 0.18, we also hit the deadline for the Blueprint Contest! We'll get in touch with the winners via Discord to hand out and discuss the prizes. They’ll also receive the “King” role on Discord, granting them access to an exclusive channel. Their blueprints can be found and used by everybody in the #blueprint-contest-entries channel on our Discord server.
All contestants uploaded impressive blueprints. It was hard to pick our five favorites, but eventually, we did select the following five. Thanks to all participants for sharing their projects!
Every winner submitted a group of blueprints - this blog does not show every single building!

This is a set of early modern townhouses in different shapes and materials. They can easily be combined together to build a city like Amsterdam or historic New York. They feature detailed interiors.

Uploading townhouses is a path to victory, apparently! These are distinctly different: they are a pack of six buildings that can be used to build a more medieval town. There is a bit of interior in the tavern, the other buildings are empty so players can use them for their own projects.

This pack also contains townhouses, and more. It contains among others a university, and an enormous opera building. The opera has a huge concert hall and many floors, halls, corridors and staircases. It’s a wonderfully decorated building that’s great to explore.

The tower itself is a gigantic structure, literally taller than mountains. Despite its size, the interior is full of detail, forming a beautiful and harmonious whole.

And this entry doesn’t just contain the blueprint for the tower, it also contains a large fortress and modular tree collections.

The preview images for the entry showed some small, square-looking bridge parts. At first, I was not impressed. But as I dived deeper into this pack, I realized the first look was deceiving. The pack includes a beautiful train station, and a lot of different parts for a fully modular elevated rail system. Corners, elevation changes with different levels of steepness and tunnels can be combined to easily build a beautiful railway system that fits neatly into your existing worlds.

That’s exactly the kind of system other players can use to elevate and improve their own savegames. And thus, it deserves first place!

Dank aan alle deelnemers, en veel plezier met deze Blueprints!
