Hey there peeps!

Since Update #11 we started getting reports of the game crashing when you'd press "Continue" after a run, and sometimes also when returning to the main menu! While working on a fix (thank you all for the reports you sent!) we also added a couple of other features. Let's take a look.

Changelog

  • Added a Fog Thickness multiplier for earning Spikes (permanent currency)

    • each fog thickness level will increase the overall multiplier for how many spikes you make per run by 0.1. (Fog Thickness 5 = 1.5x)

  • Dynamic Main Menu

    • the train you see in the main menu now mirrors the one of the save slot

    • there are 4 different camera views that can now happen in the main menu, the default one is most likely

    • changing the save slot will also immediately update the train visuals

  • improved file saving

    • in order to prevent the loss of saves, we're now writing to a different file and only once the operation is done, the file is copied over the previous one

    • this should prevent all instances of total progress loss when the game crashes and tries to save progress at the same time

    • we have more that we want to do here, and we're already working on those, expect the improvements in future updates!

  • fixed the "press continue -> crash" bug

    • we've got a lot of reports about this one, thank you all! We tried to fix this one as quickly as we could. The issue is now resolved.

  • "Mirage Mastery" removes incoming attacks instead of invincibility (same effect/result, but a different approach)

  • increased the probability of shops in the second and third segments

  • audio tweaks for better audio quality related to the newest tracks

  • selected carriages will now no longer reset when you choose a different locomotive, your current selection will remain the active one

  • fixed a memory leak which would happen whenever the game generated a new world map

(loading the game now will show you the train you either last used or are in a run with depending on the save slot)

(coming back to a run with a destroyed second carriage)

(Fog thickness now adds a multiplier to the number of Spikes you're making at the end of a run)

That's it for this one! As mentioned earlier in the post, we're super thankful for the feedback, reviews and reports you've been sending us, thanks!
