Major content update for Rocket Man X

Here is the list of additions to Rocket Man X in the major content update.

  • Added new game+ and new game++. These are accessed by clicking new game in the title screen, before selecting a difficulty, after beating the game once.
    • New game+ saves all armor, hearts, energy tanks, money, and purchased items, while simply resetting what levels have been beaten. This only works with the most recent save. Using new game+ after a randomizer is untested. While the hope is that it will work properly, there is a chance it will break the game and make it unbeatable.
    • New game++ does the same as new game+, but also saves your weapons.

  • Added a randomizer. Settings and randomization are done in the title screen, and can only be accessed after beating the game at least once.

    • Note: The randomizer has been tested repeatedly, but there is always a possibility that a glitch has made its way through. If you find a glitch, please report it on the community hub or discord. If you encounter a crash, make sure it isn’t a consistent crash before reporting. The randomizer is slightly unstable, so it sometimes won’t crash for the same reason twice.

  • Added an item tracker for both the normal gameplay and randomizer.

    • In normal gameplay, this will appear in the top left corner of the drawing pad when hovering over a level, and will show whether the level’s armor, heart, and energy tank (if there is one) have been collected.
    • In randomizer mode, this will show every collectable item in the level. The drawing pad will no longer draw the level underneath the tracker in this mode.

There are also some adjustments made to make the game more fun.

  • Added mech teleporters throughout Blade Beetle’s level to reduce backtracking.
  • Adjusted the lever in Blade Beetle’s level to no longer take control of the camera.
  • Replaced the glass plane in Blast Berry’s level with a breakable glass plane.
  • Reduced the number of dogs in Igloo Iguana's level.
  • Reduced the volume of the dogs’ wheel sound effect.
  • Changed Snowbot’s slam sound effect.
  • Snowbots no longer activate their slamming sound effect on spawn.
  • Added sound effects for enemy footsteps.
  • Removed some annoyingly placed enemies in Blast Berry’s level.
  • Added a sound for destroyed generators.
  • Added a sound for the dome turning in Blast Berry's level.
  • Added a sound for the drill in Blast Berry’s level.
  • Added a sound for the spears in Wind Waterbuffalo’s level.
  • Added a cube below the heart in Igloo Iguana's level to prevent randomized items from rolling down the slope.
  • Adjusted Barbera’s behavior to make the fight less annoying.
  • Buffed sword damage from 2 (4 with upgrades) to 5 (10 with upgrades).
  • Adjusted the audio in parts of the song Rained-in forest.
  • Reduced the cooldown for the sword attacks.
  • Removed the useless arrow from Hologram Horse’s stage.
  • Removed Fairies’ ability to collide with Rocket. Dashing into them will still free them, but they will no longer block Rocket from moving through them.
  • Placed 1 hidden fairy of each type. Each will turn to fariants if you beat Blast Berry’s level. The exceptions are Shield Seagull’s level, which already had fairies as a key element. And Blast Berry’s level, which already had a fairiant inside. Instead, 2 fairies were added to Blast Berry’s level, and each new fairy will become a fairiant if you rescue the fairy queen before rescuing them.
  • Fairies and Wanton Wolf now become invisible if they are too close to the camera. They still function, but are less obtrusive.
  • Compressed most of the images used in the credits and the UI. According to steam, this update saves 0.2 GB including the new content.

There are also a number of bug fixes.

  • Leaky Leopard now faces towards Rocket at the start of her boss fight.
  • Fixed a glitch where the mech’s speed was unaffected by quick wood and quicker wood.
  • Fixed a glitch where poison would be able to kill Rocket through walls if he has the sword out.
  • Adjusted the requirements to spawn Wanton Wolf to no longer require you to beat the first 2 AFE levels. It now only requires collecting all hearts, armor, energy tanks, and weapons.
  • Fixed a glitch where the 1-ups on the path in the boulder chase of AFE stage 1 wouldn’t spawn.
  • Fixed Rocket’s footstep sounds in Shield Seagull and Blade Beetle’s boss fights, which previously used the default footstep sound effect instead of the sand and grass footsteps respectively.
  • Fixed Stronger Shield, Weaker Shield, Bigger Boomerangs, and Better Bangarangs not activating their effects.
  • Fixed the cameras in Wind Waterbuffalo’s basement. They will no longer lose track of rocket if a Rattatack enters their vision.
  • Fixed enemy sight logic. Previously enemies would lose track of Rocket if another enemy entered their vision, going to Rocket’s last known location instead of tracking him. They will now only lose track of Rocket if he leaves their vision. Some of the unique and rare enemies are exempt from these changes.

New Glitches are bound to appear, so please report any that you find in the discord server.

Game update4 Sep 2026Potential crash fixThe randomizer page has had an inconsistent crash because of the shaky way the randomizer was set up. This update should fix the crash by stopping the code's execution before the crash can occur, and then trying again. If it fails multiple times, then it will stop and tell you to try again. There's no guarantee that it will stop every freeze or crash, but it should be a bit more consistent in s…Game update1 Sep 2026Removed the Ai imageRemoved the Ai generated fire sprite sheet from the game. It has been replaced with a finished version of the hand drawn fire sprite sheet that the Ai filled out originally. Now the fire is 100% human drawn.
