v0.71.0: What happens between the waves

New

  • Ban Appeals. The people you banned come back to argue. After Wave 2 the shift does not start until you clear a queue of three cases: the post you banned, quoted with the rule you cited, and their side underneath. Two buttons, no tools. Sometimes they are right. The plea never tells you which. From Wave 3 on it is optional overtime.

  • Overturn a ban that was sound and the account comes back next shift doing the same thing, with the same profile in Investigate.

  • The break room asks you things. Two or three decisions a night, each with its price on the button: cover a board nobody is on, work a backlog, let a wave of signups through. Take it and the next shift runs longer. Pass and it costs reputation, and passing gets more expensive every time.

  • The other mods ask you for things too. Help them and you carry a favour into the next shift: someone covers your second board, pulls a full record, marks the next judgment call. Helping is paid for later...

  • Sixteen more nights that are nobody's story, plus arcs that remember what you said and consequences that land two shifts later with a name on them.

  • Endless mode stops for a break. Every 20 posts or six minutes, whichever comes first, with the same break room and the clock paused. A third of what you scored since the last one becomes shop budget.

  • The wave-complete screen says what the shift paid into the shop.

Fixed

  • Wave 2 could be impossible to win. Its objective names CENSOR and the guaranteed target drifted past the review window whenever an event spliced a post in front of you. Same fix for Dennis Sharp's guaranteed appearance.

  • The achievement list went from 44 to 28 and now talks about moderating. Twelve of them were calculator easter eggs. The gags are all still in the game, only the notification is gone.

  • Quitting to the menu and hitting Continue wiped every achievement earned in the break room. They are merged now, not replaced.

  • The achievement balloon stuck to the bottom right for the rest of the run. It had been doing that since March.

  • The failed-wave panel printed the wrong reputation, the one number a retry does not keep. It now shows what the retry actually starts with.

  • Pop-ups buried the copter during the outage. The stack grew faster than you could close it and the browser froze mid-flight. Capped while the board is down.

  • Endless runs always showed 0:00 in the Steam friends list.

  • Several inbox emails advertised bonuses that were never implemented. Quota, reputation, all of it decor.

  • A gray-area post printed {user} instead of a name.

Game update14 Sep 2026Maintenance Shift 1.0.13Hey mods, Another maintenance patch. Nothing here adds content. Every item is the game doing what it already claimed to do, plus two things it should have claimed. If you hit anything that still feels off, the discussion board is the fastest way to reach me. Thanks for reading the rules before you moderate. · The flame war penalty is gone. Permaban is a game about reading a forum in 2007, made mostly by one person, and I went into launch week hoping a handful of people would find it. Instead the reviews, the discussion threads and the emails kept coming, from moderators who said it felt accurate to people who had never touched a forum and stuck with it anyway. Thank you. I read every one of them…Steam news8 Sep 2026Permaban is out! It's 2007 and you're the unpaid mod of a dying forum. Every ban needs a rule behind it, and the people you punish come back to argue. Inspired by Papers, Please, minus the clock. Launch price is $4.99, 55% off until September 18. A campaign runs about 40-60 minutes, longer if you poke at the desktop, which you should. Endless mode holds the rest. If something breaks, the discussion board is the…
