Wanderers,
The Ley Lines are humming, the caravan's rolling, and the team has been heads-down doing what we love most, making Dunebound Tactics the best version of itself before we open the road to everyone.
We wanted to check in with a monthly update, and lead with something important: if you haven't played the demo recently, it's not the demo you remember.
We pushed a major update alongside Next Fest, and it reshaped the core experience based directly on your feedback.
⚔️ Combat, AI & Encounter Overhauls
Smarter encounters — reworked combat scenarios with more advanced enemy AI and redesigned encounter templates that'll keep you honest.
Global enemy rebalancing — a full balancing pass across every encounter so the challenge stays fair but rewarding.
Pacing & progression — meaningful adjustments to player progression and combat pacing so the moment-to-moment loop stays fluid.
⚙️ UI, Quality of Life & Balancing
Cleaner front-end — UI improvements to make menus, navigation, and the HUD clearer and more intuitive.
Resource calibration — retuned asset spawn rates and environmental resource balance across every biome.
Visual clarity — rebalanced color levels across maps and arenas so you can read the battlefield even when things get chaotic.
🧹 Bug Fixes & Polish
Performance optimization, bug squashing, and stability improvements across all four acts for a smoother run start to finish.
Dunebound Tactics is a roguelite turn-based tactical RPG about leading a caravan of survivors across a collapsing, Elios-scarred world. Expect high-stakes battles on fully destructible, reshapable terrain. Obliterate cover, lay traps, and shove enemies into pitfalls to bend each fight your way. Build your crew from distinct classes (stack traits and 50+ modules, and lean on caravan skills when the frontline needs backup. The demo currently allows you to play as TWO of the available classes planned for launch: Imperials or Aranist.
Oh, and one choice you'll keep coming back to: heal your wounded, or extract their Elios to fuel the engine and push on. The dunes rarely make it easy. Play the demo & share feedback — fire it up and tell us what you think in the Steam Discussions. Or join our growing community of 3,000 Discord members, and interact with us there!
We're deep in development and excited about where the game is right now. The core loop feels good, and we've shifted our focus toward polish and refinement. There are some fun things on the horizon we can't wait to share, and we're closing in on locking real dates. Stay tuned; the next few updates are going to be good ones.
We can't wait to show you what's next.
See you in the sands,
