Development of Maximilian Spee continues, and I’m excited to share another major milestone with you.

The second major stage of development is now complete.

Over the past months, I’ve focused on expanding the core gameplay and adding several systems that significantly increase the ways you can play Spee. The Naval Battle Simulator is now finished, the game has received a full mission creation and publishing system, and several strategic and gameplay features have been expanded.

# Naval Battle Simulator Completed

One of the biggest milestones of this stage is the completion of the Naval Battle Simulator.

Naval battles can now be fought directly in the game, with ships, weapons, movement and combat systems brought together into a complete playable experience.

This also establishes the foundation for future naval gameplay and further improvements to battles.

# Mission Editor & Steam Workshop Support

The game now includes a Mission Editor, allowing missions to be created directly within Spee.

Created missions can be published through Steam Workshop, opening the possibility for players to create and share their own scenarios and gameplay content.

This is an important step toward making Spee not only a game with its own content, but also a platform where the community can create new experiences.

# China Is Now Playable

China has been added as a playable country.

This expands the strategic possibilities of the game and adds another completely different starting position, with its own geopolitical situation, challenges and opportunities.

# Spy Skill Tree

The intelligence system has also been expanded.

Spies can now improve their skills through a skill tree, allowing them to specialize and become more effective in their chosen roles.

This adds another layer of progression to the intelligence system and gives you more control over how your agents develop.

# Mercenaries at Pirate Bases

Pirate bases can now be used to recruit foreign mercenaries.

Mercenaries from the Netherlands, Siam, Portugal and Spain are now available for recruitment, providing additional options for players who need experienced forces outside their own country.

# Diplomacy Updated

The diplomatic system has received a significant update.

Diplomatic relations, interests and interactions between countries have been expanded and reworked to make diplomacy a more important part of strategic decision-making.

# Two New Game Modes

Two new ways of playing Spee have been added.

Strategic Mode allows you to play as a country and manage all of its cities.

Port Command Mode offers a more focused experience, where you take control of a single port rather than an entire country.

This allows players to choose between a broader strategic experience and a more focused game centered around one location.

# The Final Stage

The third and final stage of development is now beginning.

The focus will shift from adding individual systems to testing, expanding and connecting the game’s core gameplay logic.

Diplomacy and intelligence will be further integrated, creating stronger connections between these systems and making them part of a more coherent strategic gameplay experience.

I will also begin development of the Land Battle Simulator, introducing the ability to attack and defend ports through land-based combat.

This stage will bring the major gameplay systems together, with the goal of turning them into a complete and interconnected game experience.
