Hi all,
I'm proud to have Prophet Margin's demo new version 0.8.56 now available again and on Brilliant Indie Treasures 2026! It's available to play in person on the festival at Brighton, England on Wednesday the 15th in the afternoon. Or you can play it here![/p]
Do say hi if you come to Brighton!
This update is mostly about making trade easier to understand, improving feedback when things happen, and fixing rough spots in the tutorials and interface.
Roads have received a big visual and usability pass.
Hovering a route now highlights the relevant roads
Roads that would complete a loop are easier to spot
Completing a loop triggers a new travelling spark
Blueprint roads are translucent and react when hovered
Road-building signs move to catch your attention
Hungry, rioting, dormant, highlighted, and looped roads are easier to tell apart
New import and export markers make the direction of trade clearer
Large networks should now be easier to inspect when goods are not moving where you expected.
Town trade bonuses are now easier to understand. Improved tooltips explain where a town's bonus comes from, and the HUD does a better job of showing the bonuses you have earned. New animations also show when bonuses are awarded and which towns or wagons receive them.
Town hunger is now based on missing imports instead of the time since a town last exported something. Hungry towns have clearer warnings and recover properly when supplies arrive. Their icons, buildings, and roads also update more consistently.
Quest rewards are easier to read, and hovering a reward now shows its full details. Completed quests behave better at the end of a game, reward layouts have been cleaned up, and trade bonus rewards now get a proper celebration.
The demo tutorials have received a lot of fixes and cleanup.
Clearer arrows, pointers, and instructions
Better explanations for town upgrades and additional imports
Improved restart, speed, and undo controls
Fixed several cases where a tutorial could get stuck
Tutorial messages are less likely to cover important items
Water is revealed correctly around explored tutorial regions
Starting a new game also has an improved introduction as the island and its gods are revealed.
Clearer torch costs for exploration and deck unlocks
Better town card, reward, and bonus tooltips
Improved stockpile export indicators
Towns remain visible when hidden behind large structures
Cleaner HUD layouts
Better warnings when commandments are close to being broken
More reliable island generation
Many fixes for saving, loading, undo, roads, quests, temples, and interactions
There has also been a lot of work on new relics, quests, gods, and later worlds for the full game. That content is not playable in the demo, but development is moving forward and some of the supporting systems are already included under the hood. Thanks to everyone playing the demo and sending feedback. I hope the new version makes your next island a little easier to read and a lot more satisfying to build!
