The pet-related Summer Sweep Up changes have arrived! Plus, some tweaks for our canine companions, a whole heap of Z-buffer fixes and more…
Changelog - September 16th
Summer Sweep Up - Pet Changes
- Pets will now follow you into The Gauntlet, Corrupted Gauntlet and Impetuous Impulses, meaning you won't need to bank them before entering and they will be visibly following you inside.
- For other minigames except Temple Trekking, you'll now be able to enter them without needing to bank your pet, if you have one following you. However, pets will be invisible once inside the minigame, still saving you the trouble of banking them.
- Our initial intent was to allow pets to fully follow you into various other minigames, but unfortunately we had technical limitations for a number of these, where new NPCs wandering around would mean the minigame would break. We've managed to crack the Gauntlet and Impetuous Impulses, but other instances have had to settle for at least allowing you access without needing to bank your pet.
- Temple Trekking is excluded from this list since you already have an NPC following in that minigame, so you'll still need to bank your pet to be able to enter there.
You'll now be able to enter the Fossil Island's Underwater area without needing to bank the pet following you, but it will be invisible. We'll look to apply this to Tortugan Island's Underwater area as well in a future update.Pets will now respawn with you on death and will keep on following you. Note that for all the above minigame and underwater related pet changes:
- Your pet needs to be in a summoned status before entering, meaning you cannot take an Inventory item pet into the minigames.
- Once you leave the underwater area and minigames that your pet is invisible, your pet will go back to visibly following you.
- If you die within the minigame or drown in the Fossil Island's Underwater area, pets will be kept in a status of following you.
- These changes apply to all pets except the list of "Other (Generic)": Dogs, cats, Broav, Pet fish, Hellcat, Pet rock, Toy cat, Humphrey Dumphrey, Spooky chair, Mayor of Catherby, and Archibald.
An additional Summer Sweep Up Tweak
- Reduced the amount of energy potions dropped from Goblins, Banshees and Crawling Hands. Players should still receive a useful amount, but these should no longer dominate loot tables or feel overly abundant.

Summer Sweep Up - Pet Changes
The very last batch from the Summer Sweep Up have arrived, bringing all the proposed changes from the blog to a close! In case you've missed it, we've already released all the other changes here, here, here and here. This week sees the only remaining round of changes, which are the pet-related improvements. Let's get straight to the details!

Tweaks for Our Canine Companions

Who let the dogs out? We did, last week! Thank you so much to all who've completed the 'A Ruff Situation' quest and adopted a dog! It's been peak pawsitive vibes seeing players journey across Gielinor with their canine companions.
This week, we've got some slight tweaks regarding them:
- Fixed a bug where you couldn't see the location of locked puppies in the adoption interface if you already owned a dog.
- Must protect our barking furry friends at all costs! We wouldn't want them eating suspicious food or getting an upset tummy. The following food can no longer be fed to dogs:
- Onion sacks
- Poison Karambwan
- Easter egg
- Green, Plain, Red, Black, Gold and Rune satchels

Checking In: Jagex Launcher on Mac
In case you've missed our blog yesterday, we want to check in with you regarding Jagex Launcher on Mac.
We’ve been working away on an Apple Silicon native version of the Jagex Launcher, with a provisional release window within the next two months.
This means we’ll be well ahead of the compatibility for Intel-based applications ending, which is due to take place with macOS 28 in 2027. However, with MacOS 27 having released yesterday, there will be a temporary step up until our native Launcher version releases that we want you to be aware of.
Our current Launcher is an Intel-based application which relies on Rosetta for compatibility. Rosetta is not installed by default on macOS 27, so if you upgrade to this OS, the launcher may fail to open the first time you boot it.
If that happens, you’ll immediately see a one-time prompt to install Rosetta; you’ll need to be online, accept the install and may need to re-enter your macOS credentials. After that, everything should work normally with no further disruptions.
Jagex Launcher Minimum Spec
We also want to let you know about a change to the minimum spec for the Jagex Launcher. We avoid these changes as much as we can, but this key change will mean we can better support the majority of our Mac players.
For Mac users, minimum spec will move from macOS Big Sur (macOS 11) up to macOS Monterey (macOS 12). So, if you're still on macOS 11 or earlier, you'll need to update your OS to keep using the Launcher once this update goes live.
The minimum spec stays at Windows 10 for Windows players. That said, if you're on Windows 7 or 8, it's worth knowing these are already unsupported - so we can't promise the Launcher will keep working on them once the update rolls out.
Jagex Launcher for Linux Beta

In case you missed it, back in July we released the Jagex Launcher for Linux beta! Through this Launcher, you can login to your Jagex Account securely and access RuneLite to play OSRS on Linux.
You can read up on it in our launch blog, here.
Since then, we've been working away on updates and fixes, with five updates under our belts that have addressed key feedback we've received from you, including:
- Adding in-app persisted log in
- Removing the need for you to install Fuse 2 to launch the application
- Improved automatic update checks from being too aggressive
- Allowed you to choose if the Launcher minimises on game launch
- Given you the ability to configure RuneLite from the App itself
- And many more under the hood tweaks to improve the experience!
We want to say a massive thank you for your support and feedback so far, your reports have really helped us identify bugs and make improvements.
In the bottom right of the launcher, there’s a quick logout style satisfaction rating you can provide. Please do let us know what you think.
If you encounter any bugs or issues, drop a report via our Official Discord server, through the #Linux-Launcher channel. Our team will be logging any reports in here for our technical folks, and we may reach out from time to time for more information.
Thank you to all our Linux players for your continued support. We hope you enjoy a more direct route to getting onto the grind.
Player Support and Anti-Cheating Statistics
Welcome back to our monthly snapshot of Player Support and Anti-Cheating activity - your behind-the-scenes look at all the hard work going into keeping Gielinor fair and fun for everyone.
Each month, we share key stats from our Player Support and Anti-Cheating teams so you can see exactly what’s been happening behind the curtain. From how quickly we’re responding to your queries, to the number of bots and rule breakers taken down, here’s the latest data for August 2026:
Metric August 2026 Year to Date** Average Response Time 29 hours - Support Queries Resolved 79,241 615K Live Chat Queries Resolved 7,278 42,821 Report Action Messages 137K 1.15M Macro Bans (OSRS) Total - 125,803
F2P - 111,712

F2P - 7.07M
P2P*- 400K Wealth Removed (OSRS) 3.96 Trillion 29.4 Trillion RWT Bans (OSRS) Total - 19,750
F2P - 3,528
P2P* - 16,222 139,864 Chat Spam Mutes 2,032 26,239
*P2P refers to an account with access to members’ worlds and features, either through a Bond or direct payment.
**“Year to Date” refers to the period from January 1st, 2026 through to the end of the month covered by the stats - in this case, the end of August 2026.
You can check these out in the Player Support Statistics and Anti-Cheat Statistics pages. Our teams remain as dedicated as ever to tackling cheaters, scammers, and spammers to ensure a fair playing field for all. As a result of these ongoing efforts, we're seeing an overall decline in rule-breaking activity. We're also seeing that the average account age and average account level of bots are decreasing, indicating that longer-standing and higher-level bots are being detected and removed from the game. Thanks for all the reports and support you send our way - it really does make a difference!
Additionally, we’ve had a few reports of some players being phished out of their accounts. As always, bad actors are always cooking up new tricks. We've heard of a new few ones including fake P-Mod application forms asking for login details and illegitimate Jagex Launcher downloads hosted on other websites. This is a quick reminder to stay safe out there and think twice before entering sensitive details or downloading anything advertised as relative to RuneScape. There are no P-Mod Application forms, and anything you download for RuneScape must be a subdomain of Jagex.com or RuneScape.com to be considered safe. Always download anything directly through our website or Launcher – nowhere else.
Some rules we always recommend:
- Don't click suspicious links or download unknown files.
- Jagex will never ask for your password or verification codes via email or messages. Never give away credentials that could be used to access your account.
- Use your browser's phishing filters.
You can find out more about phishing on our Support Centre.
Nightmare Mass
Join us on September 25th 15:00 UTC for a Nightmare Mass with endgame PvM creator Widega_!

The event will be streamed on Twitch and span across worlds 505 - 525, with up to 80 players battling in each encounter.
Widega is also a bit of a gamer; their achievements include reaching Delve wave 221, defeating Awakened Vardorvis with only 1 prayer point, using only thrawls and recoils for damage, and completing Awakened Leviathan with only 1 prayer point and no stuns!
Alongside the mass, we’ll be speaking to Widega about their route into high-level PvM, the mindset behind their unusual challenges, and how they keep going when a single completion takes hundreds of deaths.
Bring suitable Nightmare gear and supplies - and make sure you've got access to Slepe!
