Hello everyone!
I have some great news to share with you today: I’ve finally finished the big LarsGadiel update!
I’ve spent all this time working nonstop to improve and expand the game with a lot of exciting new content.
As I mentioned in the previous Developer Q&A, if LarsGadiel sold well, I would add more content to the game. Well, here it is!
As usual, I’ll explain everything through a series of questions and answers.
This is a much bigger update than the previous ones, adding a substantial amount of extra content and expanding the game considerably.
Two new maps have been added.
One of them is the largest map in the entire game, increasing the overall size of LarsGadiel by approximately 40–50%.
These maps contain some very challenging areas and are now part of the game’s endgame content. You do not need to visit them to complete the main game.
In fact, I recommend entering the largest area with 16 HP and both weapons upgraded to a high level.
New special items have been added.
These items are necessary to progress through the new maps and will allow you to access new areas.
There will be some completely deadly sections, as well as new instant-kill spikes that cannot be destroyed this time...
These items will be placed in an additional box called Items2.
Special upgrades for Eloen’s suit have been added.
These upgrades allow you to:
Recover more health when using healing bottles.
Increase your defense.
Improve your weapon damage even further.
All of these upgrades are hidden throughout the new maps, and I highly recommend finding them!
The update adds new bosses and enemies.
They are more difficult than the bosses already found in the game, and the new enemies can deal a lot of damage.
Some enemies may be able to kill you in just three hits, even with 16 HP.
There are also several special enemies that can only be “broken” using a specific special item.
One of the new maps contains a new village with:
Houses.
NPCs.
A shop.
New items.
The ability to increase your maximum health.
Previously, the maximum health was 16 HP. You’ll now be able to increase it further.
There will also be ammunition boxes and other important new features.
Reaching this small village is, I think, quite an odyssey...
Some parts of the existing maps have been changed to accommodate the new content.
I’d rather not reveal too much about these changes for now.
There are also new weapons...
And that’s all I’m going to say about them for now!
As you would expect, the game’s achievement list has also been expanded with this update.
Yes!
LarsGadiel will not have paid DLC. All future content updates will be free.
The update should be released tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, so in just a few days!
I hope you enjoy this new content as much as I enjoyed creating it.
"I saw you patched the castle skip and that's fine and all. You should also patch the room with double jump by either removing the enemy there or adding a higher lip you can't damage boost up to it without fighting the boss. I only thought of it because I hit the exact same issues when programming 2D physics. I know Sorry, dealing with a professional game hooligan here.
Again I loved the game and it's your choice of how it should be played! I'm looking forward to whatever you decide to build!"
Yes, I’ve changed some parts of the maps because, using the jump “trick,” it was possible to skip almost half of the game.
However, I’ve decided to leave the area with the spikes as it is.
It’s true that you can skip that boss, but this is one of the smallest areas in the game. It could be interesting for speedrunners, or for players who simply want to skip that section.
That said, I always recommend completing it, since there are many important items there, including extra health containers.
"i feel like if vibration was added it would make combat more impactful. I also constantly am running into the ceilings when going up a ladder"
This is not the last important update I’m going to make. There will be one more update, and I might add vibration to it.
It wasn’t something I originally planned, but it’s true that nowadays many games, or almost all of them, include this feature.
If you have any more questions or would like to know more, feel free to leave your questions in the comments of this announcement.
If I make another Developer Q&A in the future, I’ll try to answer everyone.
Thank you all so much, and enjoy the new content!
