We made it.
After countless runs, crashes, fixes, reworks, balancing passes, late nights, way too much coffee, and more Knots of Fate than we can reasonably count, Asgard’s Fall 1.0 is finally OUT NOW!
We honestly can’t put into words how happy, relieved, proud, and, yes, absolutely exhausted we are right now.
When we started this journey, we had a pretty clear idea of the game we wanted to make. But getting here took a lot of learning, a lot of changes, and most importantly, a lot of help from all of you.
To everyone who played during Early Access, gave us feedback, reported bugs, shared builds, theorycrafted, left reviews, joined the Discord, or simply kept playing and supporting the game:
Now it’s time to see where this journey ends.
There’s a lot to dig into, so here’s the full changelog:
New Character: Druid
New End-Boss: Hel in Helheim
Weapon Skins for each Character
Compendium Pages for all Abilities
Warpaint Ranks
Higher Realms now drop Warpaints with higher Ranks.
Each Rank increases the Stats provided by a Warpaint, making them even more powerful.
New Resource: Power Shard
Power Shards can be used for crafting and increasing the Rank of your equipped Warpaints.
New Crafting Option: Upgrade Warpaint Rank
Warpaint Crafting can now be accessed directly from the Warpaint Hut and Inventory.
Equipped Warpaints and Warpaints in your inventory can now be crafted instantly without having to unequip them from a loadout first.
Quick Equip button for Warpaints when using a gamepad
Added visual and text indicators to Warpaints in the inventory when they are currently used in one or more loadouts
Added various missing localization entries across all supported languages
Changed the Warpaint grid layout
New grid spaces can now be unlocked.
Changed the Warpaint shapes
Warpaints now return to their original inventory slot if equipping is canceled.
The slot is also automatically selected, making it much easier to find the Warpaint again.
Previously, canceled Warpaints were moved to the first available empty slot.
Reworked the Character Selection Screen to show more information
Characters now have different starting stats, including HP, Armor, Movement Speed, and more
A lot of optimization resulting in better overall performance
Fixed an issue causing Warpaints to vanish on rare occasions
Fixed an issue where Warpaints assigned to inactive loadouts could be accidentally pulverized when using Mass Pulverize
Fixed various crashes
There may still be a few localization errors here and there. Sorry about that! We’re already on it and will do our best to catch and fix them over the next couple of days.
One More Important Thing: The Wipe
We want to emphasize once again that there is a total progress wipe with the 1.0 release.
When we first announced this, the response from the community was incredibly positive and supportive. Thank you for that. We did take some time to look into whether there was a way to avoid the wipe, but ultimately decided that a clean slate is the right way forward.
Our current save system has some very specific and nasty edge cases with older savegames. Rebuilding everything around those existing saves would make it much harder for us to properly develop, test, and release the 1.0 version without carrying these problems forward.
A full reset gives us the clean foundation we need for the full release and ensures that everyone starts the 1.0 journey on equal footing.
We know that losing your progress isn't easy, especially after all the runs, builds, Warpaints, and countless hours you've put into the game. That's why we're incredibly grateful for your understanding and support.
We’re incredibly proud of what Asgard’s Fall has become, and we’re so happy that you’re finally able to experience the full game.
There are still plenty of things we want to keep an eye on, and we’ll be here to squash bugs, listen to your feedback, and make sure the halls of Asgard remain worthy of your presence.
For now, though, we think we’ve earned a little rest.
Thank you for joining us on this journey, Vikings. ❤️
And while we're talking about awesome stuff, we've teamed up with our friends over at Randwerk for a special bundle!
They've just released their game Wanderburg, so if you're looking for something new to play alongside Asgard's Fall, go check it out and give our friends some Viking love!
