Conqueror's Blade at gamescom: The hype goes beyond the booth

gamescom kicked off with a bang in Cologne, Germany, from August 26 to 30.

For five days, the Conqueror's Blade booth buzzed with energy. Veteran warlords traveled just to meet us, while many newcomers were drawn in by the armor, units, and epic sieges, stopping by to try the game themselves.

Playtests, chats, and photo ops never stopped. Players worldwide met here, giving Conqueror's Blade countless unforgettable gamescom moments.

An old friend dropped by

During the event, we welcomed an old friend from the Solar Knight Martial Arts Club.

He previously helped with combat design, motion capture, and technical acting for our sparta and roses seasons. Traveling to Cologne, he made a special trip to our booth to reunite with the team.

From working side-by-side on combat mechanics to crossing paths again at gamescom, this reunion added a wonderful surprise to our trip.

An interview at the booth

Besides reuniting with players and old friends, our devs were also interviewed by CGTN at the event. They discussed our development philosophy and what it's been like connecting with players worldwide over the years.

These topics might seem far from a real battlefield. Yet, when asked what got Conqueror's Blade to where it is today, our first thoughts went straight to you—the warlords who have stood by us.

With those familiar suits of armor, units, and epic sieges reaching a broader audience, this moment of glory belongs to every warlord.

By day, the interview captured one side of the event. By night, the conversations continued off-camera.

After hours: talking with players long into the night

After the gamescom crowds dispersed, we took a very special photo.

In the frame, players from different nations stand side-by-side with our devs. Some had just met, some were veterans with years of combat experience, and others traveled far to finally meet their longtime gaming comrades offline.

But before we gathered for that shot, we shared an incredibly vibrant night together.

No stages, just drinks and real talk

Stepping away from the venue, everyone found a spot to sit, grab a drink, and chat freely.

This wasn't a rigid press conference or a formal Q&A. Players and devs sat around a table, swapping stories about their home servers, their go-to units, their best battles, and their honest feedback on the current version.

Players from different regions had their own unique ways of expressing themselves.

Some came armed with questions to deeply analyze units and battlefields. Others shared heartfelt tales of their house members. A few couldn't wait to whip out their phones and show off their saved game screenshots.

Glasses were raised, and the laughter never stopped.

The feedback we usually only read in community forums or surveys finally turned into vivid, real players sitting right in front of us.

The night's main event: pushing for new season spoilers

Talk inevitably drifted toward the upcoming season.

Taking advantage of this rare meetup, the devs shared an early glimpse of the new season's core concepts, detailing the thought process behind its theme and visuals.

The next season will revolve around the [aztec civilization].

Visually, we draw deep inspiration from their distinct cultural imagery, exploring temples, totems, feathers, stone carvings, and highly ritualistic aesthetics. A weighty sense of history, bold colors, and the mysterious power of this civilization will gradually weave into the characters, units, and battlefields of the new season.

The moment the showcase began, players shifted into "analysis mode."

Totems, feathers, and stone carving details quickly became the focus, with speculations about new units and battlefields popping up all around the table. Players kept grilling the devs, trying to dig clues from every response.

As for how much the designers actually leaked—let's just say the rest of the night was wildly more boisterous than expected.

Of course, this gathering only offered a tiny sneak peek at the new aztec-themed season. Bigger, more comprehensive, and much more exciting details about the new season will be revealed in the near future.

A photo to remember

Before the night ended, global players and the devs gathered in front of the camera.

That's how we got the group photo shown above.

For us, it doesn't just capture a post-gamescom party; it cements the genuine, lasting bond between Conqueror's Blade and our global community.

We may speak different languages and have different gaming habits, but everyone came together to share a drink, speak their minds, and look forward to the next leg of our journey.

We hear your support and suggestions, and we're taking them straight back to the studio.

Thank you to every single player who joined us that night.

This time, we raised our glasses together in Cologne. Next time, we'll see you on the battlefields of the new season.
