Still Building!

Blood Builder · published 3 Sep 2026, 14:39 UTC

It’s been too long since I’ve posted an update on Blood Builder. Some development overhauls and personal/studio changes coalesced to distract me. Each month, I thought to myself, “Oh, I’ll just post next month”, and it never came. Well, no more; here’s some of what I’ve been up to!

Improved Human and Vampire Patrons

Human patrons enter the inn, order food, rent a room, navigate the inn, sleep in a bed, and they do it persistently.

Vampire patrons do much the same, but they stay in the Speakeasy hidden in the basement, order blood instead of food, and sleep in a coffin, of course!

Dialogue and “Cutscenes”

Using Dialogue Manager 3 for Godot, I implemented dialogue for villagers and created a couple of small cutscenes to help direct the player at the beginning of the game.

Technology Unlocks

I implemented technology unlocks that the player must spend bani (money) and influence to gain the knowledge necessary to build new workstations and craft new items.

Quality of Life and Simple Pleasures

A lot of miscellaneous tasks were done to provide more player feedback and add to the overall experience, such as adding audio or additional HUD displays for many interactions.

Alpha Test

All of this culminated in the first alpha test for Blood Builder, where email subscribers were given a copy of what will become the demo and is essentially the first portion of the full game. Some players are still taking their time with it, but initial feedback is in, and everything seems to be on the right track. Obviously, there’s much more to be done, but players are enjoying their experience.

That’s my quick update for this month. Thanks for taking the time to check it out!

Community24 Nov 2025The Dark ForestThis month, I wanted to briefly discuss the Dark Forest! As the name implies, the Dark Forest is a mysterious and foreboding place where one could easily become lost within its twisting maze of trees and vegetation, which seem to be shuffled around by some unseen force. It’s where many players will spend their time collecting resources, and it’s the only place where the player will encounter co…Community13 Oct 2025Meet Albert and AnaIntroducing Albert and Ana In Blood Builder, you'll feed on unwary travelers. The villagers, however, know exactly what you are, and they're not scared because they're under the protection of their master, Dracula. Two of those villagers, and the most important, are Dracula's familiars, Albert and Ana. Albert is Dracula's most trusted familiar, and he's the steward of Dracula's Castle. Despite…Community4 Sep 2025Blood Builder, Revealed!I’m absolutely thrilled to reveal the Steam page and announce trailer for Blood Builder! This is Growlery Games’ second title, and it’s one that I’m extremely passionate about. Life sim games are a genre that I love to play on my own time, and I’ve always been infatuated with vampires. So, bringing these two things together in this dark, yet cozy game is very satisfying. In the months to come,…
