Rail Estate 1.0.1: All Aboard!
Hey tycoons! This update is a big one for quality of life, especially for controller players and anyone sharing a PC. Here's what's new:
New Features
- Choose your own name. Your display name is now freely editable from the main menu (it defaults to your Steam name). Names across the game go through Steam's text filter, so the leaderboards stay classy.
- Reset Progress. Want a fresh start? You can now reset your campaign progress from Settings > General. Don't worry, we ask before we wipe.
- Auction peek (controller). Hold the Focus button to glance at the current auction, release to snap back to your character. No more running across the map just to look.
- Keyboard zoom. Zoom in and out with Q and E.
- Welcome aboard. New players now get a short welcome pointing them to the campaign, so nobody's left staring at the map wondering where to start.
Improvements
- Per-account saves. Save games, settings, and keybindings are now stored per Steam account. Sharing a PC no longer means sharing (or overwriting!) each other's progress.
- Controller navigation overhaul. Menu navigation is smarter and much more robust: dynamic menus, popups, and lists now behave the way you'd expect, without focus getting lost or stuck.
- Skippable intros on controller. The intro videos can now be skipped with a gamepad too.
- Language selection first. On first launch, language selection now waits politely until after the intro videos instead of popping up over them.
- Smarter hosting. When hosting a game, we now look for a random available port and show a clear error if none can be found, instead of silently failing.
Fixes
- Kicked players are now properly removed from the voice chat as well. (Whoops.)
- Fixed lingering auction queue elements sticking around at the end of a game.
Thanks for playing, and keep the feedback coming. It shapes every update. See you on the rails!
