Based on player feedback, tree collisions are now significantly more forgiving. Hitting a single tree will no longer result in an instant death. Instead, you'll collide with the obstacle and continue your run. Crashing into multiple trees in quick succession can still be fatal, so staying on course remains important.
The goal of this change is to reduce frustration for new players without fundamentally altering the challenge or flow of the game.
