Demo v0.10.0 Update: The Professions & Progression System!

Hello everyone!

I am excited to bring you the new version, one of the most meaningful updates to Shorekeeper so far! This update introduces the highly anticipated Profession system, giving you real progression and passive bonuses for all your hard work on the island.
To make sure you have enough time to actually experience these new skills and level up, I have also extended the demo playtime to a full 14 in-game days!

Here is the complete list of what is new and improved in this version:

The Professions System

  • Added a brand-new profession system featuring Farming, Foraging, Mining, and Fishing that levels up naturally as you gather, dig, harvest, and fish.

  • Unlocked passive bonuses through profession levels, including reduced energy costs, bonus yield chances, longer-lasting tools, and increased gathering efficiency (fewer hits needed to break resource nodes).

  • Replaced the old earnings popup with a detailed end-of-day report that appears when you sleep, showcasing gathered items, EXP gains, level ups, and total shipping earnings.

  • Updated tool tooltips to accurately display the specific profession bonuses currently applied to their efficiency and durability.

The New Journal & Collections

  • Merged the pause menu and quest journal into a single, easy-to-use tabbed Journal featuring Quests, My Details, and Options.

  • Added a 'My Details' tab to track your current profession levels, EXP progress, and a full breakdown of your unlocked bonuses.

  • Implemented lifetime collection tracking in the 'My Details' tab, allowing you to see your progress and a complete list of discovered Fish, Cooked Food, and Harvested Crops.

Balance & Demo Adjustments

  • Extended the demo playtime to a full 14 in-game days instead of ending on the third chest quest, with the remaining time conveniently displayed in the Journal.

  • Adjusted mine floors 6–10 so Iron can now spawn there, while slightly reducing the spawn rate of stone on those levels.

  • Adjusted the starting time for new save files to begin at 12:00 PM.

UI, Polish & Bug Fixes

  • Added helpful tooltips across the UI, covering currencies, map icons, energy and health bars, and settings options.

  • Updated Cooking and Smelting UI to display recipe cycling help when hovering over the result panel.

  • Made Cooking and Smelting recipe arrows fully clickable for easier navigation.

  • Adjusted the Cooking and Smelting interaction range to match where its UI appears on the screen.

  • Enabled VSync by default for smoother performance (can still be toggled off in the settings).

  • Fixed an issue where the mouse cursor would unintentionally hover over UI elements while playing with a gamepad.

  • Fixed a bug where resource nodes occasionally required one extra hit to break.

  • Fixed a visual issue that caused tools to occasionally disappear from the character’s hand.

As always, thanks a lot to everyone who has been playing the demo, reporting bugs, and sharing your feedback. Jump in, try out the new professions, and let me know what you think!

Cheers,
Gullfrazie Games
