Quarter-munching action from the golden era returns! Thunder Hoop Collection is live now on Steam under the QUByte Classics!
Originally engineered by Spanish coin-op pioneers Gaelco, the Thunder Hoop saga is one of the wildest gems of the 1990s arcade scene. You control a genetically modified warrior rocking the unmistakable spiky black hair, martial-arts gi, and palm-fired ki blasts inspired directly by Akira Toriyama’s legendary Goku. Your objective? Stop the unhinged Professor Genbreak and his mutagenic horde. Along your run, you’ll face bosses that pay direct tribute to sci-fi and cinema legends:
Biomechanical abominations inspired by David Cronenberg’s The Fly and H.R. Giger's Alien.
Massive underground burrowers straight out of Frank Herbert's Dune.
Mutating, multi-eyed horrors channeling John Carpenter’s The Thing.
A roided-up, spike-shelled turtle that looks like a mutant Bowser from the underworld.
Apex predators reminiscent of classic 80s creature features.
Thunder Hoop (1992): High-stakes, tight coin-op platforming. Scale containment zones, master projectile power-ups, and learn brutal boss patterns.
TH Strikes Back (1994): A full decade later, a hardened, adult Thunder Hoop takes the fight to space. Features dual-button firing (Standard & Super Shot), zero-gravity combat, and simultaneous 2-player local co-op.
Grab your copy now during launch week, grab a second controller, and show Genbreak's mutants what real 90s arcade difficulty feels like!
