Playtest now has "Grant all tools" and "Give Van" on the F1 menu to speed up the test and let you try out some of the new tools quicker.
If you get a "Failed to load il2cpp" error you need to turn off Smart App Control in Windows settings - this is a common issue with some Unity games. I am looking into getting a proper Microsoft Certificate so my game doesn't trigger this.
Do expect bugs - I'm back to work full time so production has slowed down to just my evenings and weekends. I've added what I would consider a lot of features since 0.1.4 in the past two weeks and tested extensively but some bugs may have slipped through. Reporting bugs really does help me so please, use the bug report button if you find anything!
NEW TOOLS
Fire Extinguisher. Buy it in the shop, it sits in hotbar slot 0. Puts fires out, cools items and puts out items so you can save them if you've accidentally lit them (thinking Dave's Guitar) or want to try to move to a pile, etc. An extinguisher spare can be found at the tip if you hunt for it.
Turpentine. A pourable accelerant. Soak an item or a pile and it goes up fast, and fire runs along the soaked trail from where it caught rather than everything flashing at once. Pour it too close to flames and the bottle flashes back on you, you get a warning first. If you see the pour trail flashing towards you, you can left click to throw the bottle and avoid the worst of the effects.
Napalm Kit for the flamethrower. An upgrade in the shop with its own Napalm Mix ammo. Press N (X on a controller) to switch modes. Napalm sticks to whatever you aim at, burns hot and long, sticks to walls and fence bars, and the extinguisher can't put it out.
FIRE AND EFFECTS
Plastic and rubber now melt and gloop as they burn instead of just shrinking, with drips and a residue puddle left behind.
Striking a match or a lighter throws sparks.
Roads now take scorch marks and gloop residue.
Fire and lights no longer draw through the tool in your hand.
THE TIP
Job complete screen is a proper two-column receipt: take, bonus items, fines and deductions all lined up.
Skips have been reworked so fire and smoke stay inside them properly and items burning outside but next to them also burn.
The rubbish mountains have had another pass - they are now a proper hero items of the tip that need a method to get going. They take up to 3 minutes to clear, so don't leave them too late!
COPS
New cop animations - spray a cop with an extinguisher and they get stunned and rub their face.
Spray a copper with the extinguisher and he's blinded and loses you, but it counts as assaulting an officer and there's a fine for it if you get caught afterwards.
JOBS APP AND UI
Jobs app has categories: All, New, Replay and By Giver. Newest at the top, and each job shows how many times you've completed it.
Doors, drawers and lids are now tap to open and tap to close. They stop for you if you're in the way and physics decides the rest.
Key bindings screen now shows a full keyboard map with your binds highlighted.
Stats app shows offsite jobs completed, fingers burned and whole jobs burned in one pile.
Achievements you unlocked while offline are now pushed to Steam when you're back on.
New Very High graphics preset, and an Effects Budget slider on Custom quality. Fire and smoke now scale themselves to your GPU so a fully ablaze tip doesn't tank the frame rate.
Monitor selection in settings now remembers the actual display, not the slot.
Fines display fixed, and long job names no longer run off the NICKED and job complete panels.
BUG FIXES
Some of the pallets in the yard could not be interacted with if other pallets in the stack (but that had been removed) were burning elsewhere. This now has been fixed (Thanks to Hoskins for this report).
One-frame graphics flashes in the tip on DX12. Fixed (although this might be a Unity issue). If you have any performance issues at the tip please give a bug report so I can try and refine further.
Whole-job pile bonus now needs every job item and only counts job items, so scenery can't trip it and a still-burning item can't be skipped.
Throwing a spent match, lighter, bottle or extinguisher now swaps to the spare properly instead of letting you fire the next one with no draw animation.
A fully collapsed cabinet or shelf now lets you pick up its last piece instead of it being stuck to the floor forever.
Items knocked under a pavement slab get lifted back out.
Pillows and soft items no longer shatter glass.
Various collider and mesh fixes.
WHAT IS COMING NEXT - V0.1.6 (and probably the last for this playtest)
Forgotten items and valuables hidden in openable containers and cabinets.
Explosions for certain items, e.g. empty gas containers and the large flammable liquid holders at the tip.
Special padlocks that only the Industrial Blowtorch can cut, opening bonus areas at the tip and later missions.
Tiered gear to protect against heat, and upgradable gear such as a harness for more refills.
POSSIBLY INCLUDED
More pre-tip missions.
The last two tools I have planned: Molotov Cocktails and Thermite, but as I haven't got the base mechanic in yet and it's unlikely to be in until later, craftable items like these might be limited to finding or just bought from the store.
