We've been reading your comments and discussions, and we understand the frustration and confusion regarding why Gold Mining Simulator: Definitive Edition is a separate release rather than a standard update. We want to be completely transparent with you about how and why we made this decision. ❓ Why is it a separate game? It all comes down to hardware and keeping the game playable for everyone.
For years, the biggest complaint has been the annoying freezes while driving across the map. To finally fix this and completely eliminate loading zones, we had to deeply rework the game's streaming system and upgrade the engine.
🚫 Seamless World (No Loading Zones): No more stuttering or losing momentum while driving your pickup across the map.
🌿 Massive Visual Overhaul: Completely revamped engine, updated foliage, dynamic weather, volumetric effects, and improved locations.
🏞️ Waterfall Valley Remake: Redesigned entirely from scratch to be more exciting and realistic.
🚜 2 Brand-New Heavy Machines:
Fuel Truck – quick and easy refuels for your Frankenstein setups.
Big Dump Truck – maximum haul capacity to keep your washplants running at full speed.
⚙️ Custom Game Mode: Fully customize your run - set starting cash, parcel, equipment/gold prices, random event frequency, and more.
📱 Streamlined Parcel Management: Manage and pay to assemble, disassemble, or upgrade your washplant directly from your in-game tablet.
💡 Stadium Lights: Placeable, powerful floodlights with adjustable color, angle, and intensity for smooth night operations.

We want to make this upgrade as accessible as possible. If you already own Gold Mining Simulator and all of its DLCs, you will receive a 90% discount - allowing you to upgrade to the Definitive Edition for just a few bucks!
📅 Release Window: Coming later this year on PC and current-gen consoles (PS5 / Xbox Series X|S).
💾 Save Files: Due to major engine overhauls and reworked maps, previous save files will not transfer.
🛠️ Mod Support: Existing mods will need to be updated by their creators to function in the Definitive Edition.
📈 Future Support: Long-term development and leaderboard support will transition to the Definitive Edition starting in 2027.
"If someone claims this is a "cash grab," in a way, they're not entirely wrong we are currently maintaining a 9-year-old game into which we've poured an immense amount of work, while simultaneously developing GMS2. GMS2 has become a far more ambitious project than we originally anticipated because we are trying to address as much player feedback as possible. So yes, we do need these funds to sustain the studio and fuel the development of GMS2. However, we are doing everything we can to ensure that our most loyal players. Those who already own the full collection pay as little as possible thanks to our discount stack."
