Gamepan 1.1.18

The big map performance and storage update. Large, high-resolution maps are now fast everywhere.

Improved

  • Large maps are smooth at every zoom level. The Map module now loads just the detail it needs for what's on screen, so zooming and panning stay fluid and the image stays crisp at full resolution, even on maps that are hundreds of megabytes. No downscaling, and sharper than before when you zoom in.
  • Workspaces with big maps open fast. Map images are now kept separately and loaded on demand, so opening a game no longer waits on hundreds of megabytes of image data before anything shows. Switching tabs and maximizing a map module are instant too, and editing a pin no longer rewrites the whole image.
  • No more freezes. Decoding, loading, and compressing map images now happen in the background, so the app stays responsive the whole time, the window resizes right away, and uploading or replacing a large map doesn't lock things up.
  • Uploading or replacing a map shows the loading spinner right away and processes off to the side, instead of holding the old map on screen.
  • Skill Tree nodes stay sharp when you zoom all the way in, instead of getting blurry.
  • The Map settings menu now has separate size sliders for pins and pin labels, so you can scale the markers and their text independently.

Fixed

  • Switching maps is more forgiving. Clicking anywhere on a map's row in the Maps menu now selects it, instead of only registering on the name itself.

Notes

  • This changes where your map images are stored (in a folder alongside the rest of your data), not what's stored. Existing maps, pins, and icons are moved over automatically and safely the first time you launch, and everything loads exactly as before.
