A mage whispers an incantation, and a flame dances at their fingertips.
The start of that little miracle is something very human: emotion.
Emotion sets mana flowing. The mage directs it toward their hand and visualize the flame taking shape. The magic academy teaches spells as proven recipes. Incantations help students follow them, using the language of prayer to evoke reverence, guide their attention, and picture the result. over the years it became more strickt as deep understanding of magic was diluted.
For example in order to create a simple flame: “O dancing spirit of heat and light, gather at my fingertips and grant us your warming glow… Kindle Flame!”Which envokes emotion, then gives a clear image of how the result should be and voalla a tiny flame at the fingertip. Most mages depend on those incantation words for their entire lives.
They can produce an amazing spell’s effect but without understanding what makes it happen.Ren is an anomaly.Placed in a very difficult situation, Ren discovers magic by accident through fear, anger, and fierce determination.Later, he can recall that feeling, guide the mana, and create an effect without speaking.
He can even teach that unusual approach to his close companions Lula and Elena. His scientific approach gives him more to imagine: how heat behaves, how electricity works, and how different effects might combine. Holding several ideas at once opens the door to new possibilities. But understanding is only the beginning. Casting drains stamina; empty the reserve, and you pass out. Practice builds endurance and control.Ren has to train until feeling, gathering, shaping, and directing mana happen in an instant. And when emotion starts it all… what could be more powerful than... Love?
