Changes in version 2.1.0 (save files are compatible):General:
- The game has been upgraded to Unity 6. This is the first major technical update of the PC version in eight years. A number of bugs and issues from the old engine versions have been fixed. System requirements have gone up: Windows 7 and 8, as well as macOS below 12, are no longer supported.
- A minimized game no longer keeps rendering frames and putting load on the graphics card.
- On ultrawide monitors (21:9, 32:9) the "Screen resolution" field in the settings is no longer empty.
- A corrupted save file no longer freezes loading at 99%.
- The main menu now shows a banner for Pre-Warp Age, our new game.
- Discord button instead of Twitter in the main menu.
- The "Soundtrack" and "Artbook" buttons now lead to the pages of the respective DLC, not to the game page.
- Tomb construction animation: the finished pyramid or mastaba no longer shows up before the building animation starts.
- Decimal fractions are written with a point in every language. On systems with a comma as the decimal separator the game showed numbers like "1,5".
- The demo has been updated: a limit of 52 turns, and the "Full version" button opens the game page on Steam. A demo for Linux and SteamOS has been added.
- About a dozen other smaller fixes.Gameplay:
- Achievements fixed. "Monument of Unity" is no longer lost if the 2nd Dynasty tombs are completed before the end of the quest. "Pink Giza" now counts a failure exactly as its description says: a tomb that is not made of red granite or not colossal. "Implacable": war is now declared in "Sandbox" and in the "No trials" mode as well (previously it stayed locked there forever), and the army threshold for it has been lowered.
- The quest of uniting the tribes no longer gets stuck, so the campaign can be finished again.
- Endless game mode: fixed the population of regions dropping by hundreds of thousands per turn for no visible reason. There were three bugs. Once a drought ended, its penalty was subtracted from the region one more time and stayed there forever. With negative growth, the modifiers of the region deepened the decline instead of holding it back. On some turns the base growth was negative by itself. Now the drought penalty is lifted together with the drought, and growth never falls below zero: with overpopulation the growth slows down, but the population does not shrink.
- Fixed the "freezing" of a playthrough after a failure while an event was being displayed. Previously any internal error in an event left the screen blocked: the map could not be moved, construction did not progress, the turn did not end, and only zoom kept working. Now the playthrough continues.
- The discount on tomb upkeep (the "Pyramid builder towns" technology) now applies to tombs built after it is researched as well.
- Unification of Egypt: "Fortify" and "Bribe" change the chance by 5% instead of 3%. Previously the step was smaller than one division of the scale, and a click looked as if nothing had happened.
- The worker card on a map cell no longer stays empty or keeps showing the previous figure until the game is restarted.Texts:
- Seven new languages: Japanese, Korean, Polish, Czech, Traditional Chinese (繁體中文), Arabic and Hindi. The game is now translated into 18 languages.
- The Indonesian and Malay translations have been rewritten from scratch (about 2,300 and 2,200 fixes). A large proofreading pass for Brazilian Portuguese (about 550 fixes), Russian, English, French, Italian, Spanish, Turkish and German. Terms (pyramids, dynasties, titles, place names) have been checked against Egyptological sources in every language.
- Fixed the tooltips that showed "ERROR: Input string…" (reported in Chinese and Turkish). If a string cannot be substituted, the text itself is shown instead of an error.
- If a line has no translation, the English text is shown instead of an empty space.
- Language auto-detection: Traditional Chinese is no longer replaced with Simplified. Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Czech, Arabic and Hindi are now detected as well.
- The rank for the lowest score is now "a careless apprentice!" instead of "a helpless child!".
- A new language selection panel with flags.
- The loading screen no longer stays in the language of the first launch after the language has been changed in the settings.
- The Artbook DLC has been rebuilt in all 18 languages of the game (previously 9).Found a translation mistake? Suggest a fix on our translation platform: https://translate.clarusvictoria.com/projects/egypt-old-kingdom/. We would appreciate your help.If you need the previous version of the game, you can switch to it via the beta branches on Steam: branch 2.0.4g.
