Hey everyone! It's been a few days since Hocus Focus came out, and we really appreciate the feedback and suggestions from you guys. We're updating the game accordingly, so except these patches to come often these days.
Changes in the new build:
One of the challenges of designing Hocus Focus is trying to please different types of players that enjoy it for different reasons - we're trying to make sure the game works nicely for people who use it to increase their focus and productivity, but we also can't ignore folks who just want to have a pretty atmosphere generator in the background and still be able to satisfyingly level up.
For this reason, we've significantly increased the amount of XP you get from just idling, 4x-ing it. You can always check your XP level by hovering over the horizontal gauge to the right of your level indicator:
We've heard from several of you that hairdos were too expensive, so now they are more affordable. We're trying to move gingerly with customization, since the reward balancing is a delicate and scary thing. We want to hear from you! Let us know if any particular customization option seems over or underpriced, and we'll carefully consider it. Our testers were very dedicated but also very few, so we always suspected we'd have to make changes here once more people started playing.
Fixed an issue where some buttons were wrongly showing in adventure mode
Timer settings now get saved
Epic Journeys completed in previous days no longer show in the current list
We've heard from several of you that certain sounds in the location ambients are too loud and distracting, so I'm already at work adjusting volumes and / or removing certain samples (e.g. dogs barking in Sighisoara - I have to admit they fooled me too on some occasions 😅). These will most likely patched into the next update. Please let us know if the adjustments made the game better for you - especially the XP and price related ones. It's lovely to see so many people play the game daily - we hope it will become a daily fixture in your life, and we're eager to constantly update it so it works nicely for as many players as possible.
