Open Grid and Walled Grid are now one mode, and every run mixes open ground, walled mazes, and new Archipelago islands as you go.
Three new challenges join the lineup, replaying a seed lets you chase a ghost of your best run, and the music now reacts as you play.
Added
- Added Archipelago levels: small walled islands linked by open paths.
- Added three new challenges: slide to a stop in Slipstream, outrun hunters in Countertrace, and push packets into place in Packet Switch.
- Added a PB ghost. Replay a seed and you'll race a ghost of your best run. You can recolor it or turn it off in Options > Gameplay. Ghosts are recorded from runs you finish after this update.
- Added a count-in so the music kicks in right on GO, plus a little ending when you finish a run.
Changed
- Open Grid and Walled Grid are now one mode, and every run mixes open, island, and walled levels as you go. Your old Open Grid and Walled Grid runs stay in History with their personal bests, but can't be replayed.
- Gameplay music now reacts to your run, from losing signal to a race's final countdown. To hear the songs without the effects, turn off Adaptive Music in Options > Audio.
- Move, light, and goal sounds now play in tune with the music.
- Modifier pickups have a new, smaller look, so you can still see the tile underneath.
- Modifiers now switch on or off right on the New Run screen.
- Signal Recall eases in more gently, plays faster, and only replays the round you missed.
- Challenges are easier to tell apart from mazes, with a heads-up before each one and a glowing frame while you play it.
- Losing Signal Strength now shows on screen, and the Signal meter makes it clearer when a penalty challenge is coming.
- Mistakes no longer reshuffle your challenges, so replaying a seed brings the same ones.
- Mazes grow more gently, so races and walled levels stay smaller for longer.
- Run and race lengths now go up in steps of six levels.
Fixed
- Rejoining a race in progress now switches to the gameplay music instead of keeping the menu music.
- Kept the end-of-run summary's buttons inside their panel.
- On touchscreens, each tap in a challenge now counts once.
- Race ghosts now line up with the tiles instead of sitting at an angle.
