The third minor update is now live for Moonlite - 1975. This update - pre-alpha v0.53 - will be auto-applied the next time you restart your Steam client, and focuses on further HUD and functional changes.
Below is a full list of v0.53 changes:
- Batteries and energy have now been decoupled - recycle batteries at the lander to receive energy
- Hot and cold particles now appear around the astronaut in appropriate [damaging] scenarios
- Detector artwork has been simplified: it's now tied to the HUD instead of in-world tools
- Insta-death is now possible if you fall into a hole or get harmed by a mine explosion
- Jump-able obstacles have been restricted to reduce the likelihood of getting stuck on obstacles
- The Morse code detector can now be accessed whilst piloting the lander (as well as on-foot)
- Detector wheel now appears on the HUD as you switch detectors using the mouse-wheel
- Detector can be toggled on/off by pressing the middle mouse button (on-foot and in-air)
- Detector is auto-enabled when entering/exiting lander; your current selection is maintained
- Depositing ore at the lander now awards [bonus] credits if you overspill maximum lander fuel
- Removed the ability to over-clock your stamina total (for now) - this may be restored later
- Various artwork, HUD, quadrant and wording tweaks to support the aforementioned changes
- Various sound effect changes when digging-up treasures or breaking-down rocks & crates
Your existing save-game should be unaffected.
If you encounter any bugs, please report them via Steam Discussions; most bugs I've encountered can be bypassed by quitting to the game menu and choosing continue and/or restarting the application. Don't hesitate to reach out to me via email/discussions if you need any help & support.
The day 1 demo - released 26th June 2026 and available to try via the Download Demo button on the store page - has been updated to include all changes from this and previous updates, namely:
0.51 - miscellaneous (post-launch) fixes and improvements
0.52 - HUD changes part 1 - inc. HUD improvements/simplification
0.53 - HUD changes part 2 - inc. further HUD and functional changes
As per the original Day 1 Demo, you only have 1 Earth Day to explore but it's hoped you get a taste of the current experience; any help, support and feedback from all players is welcomed at this early stage.
This update was inspired by my desire to (1) simplify detector presentation to prevent overlap with world elements (2) give the astronaut some headphones which allow them to listen to the moon at different 'frequencies', and (3) ensure detector behaviour is consistent whilst exploring on-foot (as the astronaut) or by-air (when piloting the lander). The image below gives a taster of what (may be) to come...
This update, and subsequent ones, aim to ease the path towards the first major update - 0.6 - aka the tools and technologies update. Stay tuned for further news and updates.
