Hi everyone,
I've pushed through one more update this week for v1.8.6, which includes a new BETA feature.
In the Settings menu, you will now see a new "Connections" tab. This brings together all of the existing bridges for connecting CielChan to services such as Telegram, Discord, and others.
At the bottom of this tab, you will also find a new panel for connecting CielChan directly to the Codex / ChatGPT desktop app installed on your Windows PC.
New (BETA): ChatGPT / Codex Connection
Connect CielChan to an installed and signed-in Codex / ChatGPT desktop app from Settings → Connections. CielChan can automatically locate the installation, with a manual file picker available if needed. You can choose whether Codex handles normal conversations, background observations, and supported audio or Watch Together responses. CielChan will display the responses as usual and can speak them using your currently selected TTS voice.
You can also optionally allow Codex to work through CielChan's existing tools and Goals system. Codex can plan the required steps, while CielChan continues to handle permissions, execute the tools, and verify results before reporting completion.
Connection, response routing, and tool access can each be controlled separately. If Codex is unavailable or disconnected, CielChan will continue using your currently configured local or cloud model as normal.
HOW TO USE:
1. Install the official Codex / ChatGPT app and sign in to your account.
2. In CielChan, open Settings → Connections → ChatGPT / Codex (BETA).
3. Select Connect/Check Connection. If automatic detection fails, a file picker will appear, allowing you to manually select codex.exe.
4. Choose your desired settings, then chat with CielChan as usual. Completed replies will appear directly in CielChan and can be spoken using your currently selected TTS voice.
Small Bug Fix:
Fixed an issue introduced in the last update which could, in some cases, cause words within asterisks, such as *cheese*, to be ignored by the TTS.
Update will be live on other web platforms and compact branches shortly.
Thanks, everyone!
