How Exclusivity Works in Caliber

“When will the Turkish operators be available for Credits?!”

This is one of our most popular social media questions—and behind it lies a broader topic: what happens to operators, outfits, weapons, and other content after their first release? Can they come back, and if so, under what conditions?

A few years ago, we talked about our exclusivity rules. Since then, Caliber has changed, and so has our approach to distributing new content.

Today, we’ll walk you through how exclusivity works now, why new content shouldn’t lose its value quickly, and what to expect if you missed a Battle Pass or event.

EXCLUSIVE CONTENT

Exclusive content appears in Battle Passes, events, or bundles on the website store and is available for a limited time. Once the activity ends or the bundle is removed from the website, it’s no longer obtainable—until it comes back.

This can include operators, outfits, weapons, and various thematic items—such as Halloween-themed Emotes.

Can exclusive content become available again? Yes.

The main Battle Pass reward may appear on the website store relatively soon after—but sold separately, without the many other items you could have earned by completing the Battle Pass. As for becoming the reward of a new event, that can only happen after a significant amount of time has passed.

Here’s why.

NEW CONTENT MUST RETAIN ITS VALUE

Let’s get straight to the point: if you invested money, time, and effort to complete a Battle Pass and earn a reward, that reward shouldn’t lose its value a few months later. This is the conclusion we reached after seeing our old exclusivity system in action.

Imagine: you bought a Battle Pass, completed it in full, and received an operator. Then, a few months later, that same operator became available for 200,000 Credits—no Battle Pass purchase or completion required.

Not the greatest scenario, right?

In a situation like that, it’s hard not to feel like you could have just waited. The purchase loses its value, and the time you spent completing the Battle Pass feels wasted.

We believe our current approach is fairer to the players who obtained new content at launch—both those who bought it and those who earned the required currency by participating in events, collecting Reward Log rewards, and hunting for promo codes on social media.

This applies to PÖH and SEK operators as well: we don’t plan to add them to permanent Credits sales. Currently, they’re available in bundles on the website store, and PÖH operators can also be obtained in the A Place in the Sun Marathon.

WILL EXCLUSIVE CONTENT COME BACK?

Yes, some content may return.

Caliber is constantly gaining new players—they simply didn’t have the opportunity to obtain past rewards when they were first released. And some long-time players missed a Battle Pass or event for various reasons. That’s why some past content may become available again over time.

For example, after a Battle Pass or event ends, exclusive content may:

  • Appear on the website store after some time.

  • Become the reward of a new event after a significant amount of time.

  • Later appear in the in-game Store Showcase.

  • Become available again during a themed event. For example, New Year’s items may appear in one of the upcoming winter events.

But these are just possible scenarios, not a guaranteed sequence. Some content may appear on the website store, some may become an event reward, and some may appear in the Showcase. The method and timing of each reappearance are determined on a case-by-case basis.

This way, we balance the interests of different types of players: some past content may come back, but for those who obtained it first, it retains its value for longer.

WHY IT’S BETTER NOT TO WAIT

Say you liked a Battle Pass or event reward. Should you get it now, or wait—in case it shows up later for Coins, Credits, or on the website store?

If you really want the reward, the most reliable approach is to get it during its first release. It may become available again later, but at a different time, through a different method, and under different conditions.

Besides, during the first release, you typically get more than just the main reward. While completing a Battle Pass, you receive plenty of other items alongside the operator, outfit, or weapon. The same goes for events: they too offer a lot of valuable rewards beyond the main one.

So the first release is not only the most predictable, but usually also the most rewarding way to obtain what you want.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When will PÖH and SEK be available for Credits?

PÖH and SEK operators will be obtainable not only through paid means, but also through in-game play. For example, the Turkish operators became rewards in the A Place in the Sun Marathon. The same applies to new operators that will be introduced in the future.

That said, we don’t plan to add them to permanent Credits sales.

What content is considered exclusive?

We consider content exclusive if it appears in Battle Passes, events, or bundles on the website store and is only available there for a limited time.

Once the Battle Pass or event ends, or the bundle is removed from the website, it becomes unavailable and remains only with the players who obtained it earlier.

This doesn’t mean the content disappears forever. Over time, some exclusive content may return—for example, on the website store or as the reward of a new event. The conditions depend on the specific case.

Why are new operators no longer added to permanent Credits sales?

In the past, we tried different ways of distributing new operators—including adding them to permanent Credits sales six months after a Battle Pass ended.

As a result, the operator could be obtained without buying or completing the Battle Pass. This devalued both the purchase and the effort of players who supported the game and obtained the operator at launch.

Additionally, this approach limited our marketing opportunities. If players know in advance that an operator is guaranteed to appear in permanent sale, other ways of bringing them back—such as events or special offers—become less appealing and less effective as standalone announcements.

Can new content later become available for Credits or Coins?

Yes, some content may become available for Credits or Coins over time. But this isn’t a universal rule—the method of reintroduction is determined on a case-by-case basis.

Content may also appear in a bundle on the website store or become the reward of a new event. That said, we don’t plan to add new operators to permanent Credits sales.

Why don’t you give exact dates for when content returns?

Content returns depend on future events, update themes, and marketing plans. That’s why we announce dates together with the specific event or offer.

Announcing dates in advance would limit our marketing opportunities and prevent us from using a content return as a standalone announcement.

I missed a reward. How do I find out if it will return?

Follow Caliber news. If a reward becomes available again, we’ll let you know in advance where and under what conditions it can be obtained.

What will happen to the exclusivity of reward content?

Reward content will remain fully exclusive.

Some items are awarded for special achievements and community contributions—for example, for tournament results, contest wins, participation in Polygon, or helping out as a moderator.

Such content cannot be bought or obtained any other way—it can only be earned.
