Exciting news everyone: We have been quietly working on a major content update for Gamblers Table and it is live right now for you to test on the public Steam beta branch. There is a small guide of how to access a testing branch at the end of this post.

PLEASE NOTE:

The content on the testing branch is still in active development; some graphics are still missing or placeholders and there might be bugs and balancing issues. If you play the new build, please give us as much feedback as you can, so we can make the update as great as possible!

TLDR (I just noticed that this post got waaaay too long):

  • 3 New Coin Types with unique mechanics: Poker Chips, Nuclear Coins and Crypto Coins

  • 3 New Minigames: Slot Machine, Mining and Horse Racing

  • Expanded Talent Tree with over 200 Talents

  • This is a very fundamental overhaul, so we recommend starting a new playthrough

  • Please give us feedback!

Long Version:

Our goal with the new update

The feedback on the live version of Gamblers Table has been a bit divisive. While many people liked the game, there was also a lot of constructive feedback, with the two main points being that the game feels a bit too stretched and with too little content to support the playtime. With this update we set out to fix those issues by adding a bunch of new content and by overall accelerating the playtime. Its important to note that this update brings mainly new mid-game content and introduces new fundamental systems. While your save file carries over, we highly recommend starting a new playthrough because if you had finished the live version and continue from there, you'll just blitz past most of the new content.

1. Expanded Talent Tree:

The Talent Tree has been substantially increased, with many new passive and active talents to unlock. The original tree had 22 Talents, the new one has 222. The new tree is so big, I can’t even take a good screenshot of it. A good chunk of these are passive talents but they will allow more strategic choice and specialization on different coin types, depending on your strategy. And there is also a bunch of brand-new talents that introduce completely new mechanics (see below). The amount of unlockable talent points has been adjusted accordingly and you will now unlock talent points much more frequently.

This new style of talent tree has been public on the testing branch for a few months now. The feedback has overall been very positive, so we decided to move forward with this new design and use it as a foundation for the new content.

2. New Coin Types:

There are 3 brand new coins, expanding the amount of coin types from 5 to 8. Each comes with its own unique mechanic. The new coin types are: Poker Chips, Nuclear Coins and Crypto Coins.

3. Poker Chip:

Poker Chips are a mid-game coin, that unlocks between the Gold and the Platinum Coin. Their unique mechanic is that they are manually stackable. If you click a poker chip and it lands on another one, they stack on top of each other and create a small tower. Each time the tower grows there is a 25% chance of it collapsing. When the tower collapses each Poker Chip gives money, multiplied by the height of the tower. For example: When a 10 Chip tall tower of Poker Chips collapses each of the 10 coins will generate 10x its normal value.

4. Nuclear Coin:

The Nuclear Coins unlock between the Platinum and the Diamond Coin. Occasionally a random Nuclear Coin can become unstable, indicated by rapid blinking. If you click an unstable Nuclear Coin, it explodes, flipping all coins in a huge radius and mutating all the Helpers in its area for a time. Mutated helpers generate significantly more Money when they flip coins. The final animation of the nuclear mushroom cloud is still being worked on and not in the game yet, but here is an early concept art:

5. Crypto Coin:

The Crypto Coin is the new end-game coin, that unlocks after the Diamond Coin. All its values are directly tied to a virtual stock chart that is very volatile. When the share price is low the coin itself and all upgrades are cheaper, but the coin also generates less money. On the other hand, when the share prices are high, the crypto coins and upgrades are expensive but the crypto coins that you already own will generate more money.

6. Coin Limit:

With the addition of the new coins we also had to add a coin limit to the table. There is a technical limit of how many coins we can have active on the table and there is also a point where you as a player can simply not recognize what is going on anymore. Therefore, we had to introduce a coin limit to the game. The limit is 200 coins, which is equal to the maximum number of buyable coins in the release version, so we didn’t reduce it, you can just not get even more. To get rid of old coins and make room for the new coin we have a brand-new mechanic, the Slot Machine.

7. The Slot Machine:

You can now use coins that you don’t need anymore to win different upgrades from the Slot Machine. There are minor prizes, like flat money or Skullcoins but also significant prizes like a powerful jackpot effect, golden helpers or a permanent increase to the chance that coins land on tails. The better the coin you sacrifice, the higher the chance for one of the better prizes.

8. Mining:

If you ever have more helpers than you need, you can now can send your extra helpers to work in the mines. They gather ores that increase the money generation of your coins.

9. Horse Racing:

There is a new Horse Racing minigame, bet on your favorite horse to win some extra money.

10. Community Requests:

Lastly two new talents that have been requested a lot:

-          New talent that increases money generation for each unlocked hat

-          New talent that increases money generation for unspent skull coins
