Hey Parasites!

Thursday July 30 marked the second week since Pathogenic launched and the end of our launch sale. Thanks to all of your support, these two weeks couldn’t have gone any better. We are truly grateful for everyone playing Pathogenic and sharing your thoughts on the game.

We are getting plenty of feedback from the community every day, and will keep working on fixes and optimizations to address issues you bring to our attention. Here's a new batch of updates aiming to resolve various bugs and crashes, as well as improve your gameplay experience.

*Please note that this update might make some mods incompatible with the new version. If you experience crashes after the update, try unsubscribing from your mods.

New stuff!

  • Visual polish of late game rooms, added more props.

  • Added some heart rooms.

  • Iridophore Membrane now shows a protective bubble while you're invulnerable.

  • Demo version re-released.

Balance

  • Small balance adjustments to some lung rooms.

  • Boss armor now activates at lower DPS but scales slower, so it's less punishing to huge damage builds.

  • Slightly increased Amoeba starting speed.

  • Increased Lil Collector DNA pickup range and interact range.

  • Made Lil Collector dodge speed more consistent.

Fixes

  • Improved performance at lowest graphics settings.

  • Fixed combining bug for eternal organelles.

  • Challenge achievements now unlock the moment you kill the final boss, dying afterwards no longer costs you the achievement. Older clears are retroactively granted.

  • Modded games no longer crash on startup after a game update.

  • Swapped A/B buttons no longer make organelle slotting impossible.

  • Vortisome now correctly works with burn and freeze.

  • Fixed the acid circle spawning on top of you in the Hyperplasia challenge.

  • Many crash fixes across the board — music, cutscenes, run start, level transitions, and more.

  • Switched default rendering engine for MacOS to Metal from Vulkan.

Demo Returns

Yep, you've read it right, the demo’s coming back. Previously, we had to disable the demo to focus on finishing the full game during the final sprint. Now that the launch is a couple weeks behind us, we finally have more time at hand to bring back the demo for those who want to have a taste of infection before fully committing to the pathogens.

Before launch, the demo was almost like an early access version of Pathogenic, and received extensive updates largely in sync with the in-development full game for a long time. Now we intend it to exist as more of a taster session, like what most demos should be. The new demo will have a comparatively limited scope but still enough for interested players to experience the core gameplay loop and grasp the essentials of evolving a pathogen and infecting human organs.

That's all for this week's Pathogenic news! Hope the new changes will bring you a smoother journey inside the human body. Join our Discord to send us feedback, talk about tips and strats, share your sick pathogen builds and/or find a partner in infection for the Diatom, and don't forget to follow our socials!
