Vikings,
The Northgard Battlegrounds Open Beta has now come to an end! We hope, you enjoy the extra day of Open Beta!
From July 9 to July 16, this was the first time we opened the gates of the Battlegrounds to everyone eager to discover our upcoming auto-battler.
The main objective of this Open Beta was to stress-test the stability of the build while gathering your first impressions of the game. Thousands of strategies were tested, countless combinations were explored, and more than a few buildings were burned swapped, or sold for Kröwns!
We are incredibly grateful for the interest you showed throughout this testing period. A huge thank-you to everyone who played, completed the survey, reported an issue, shared feedback, or simply took the time to tell us about their experience.
We have received a tremendous amount of valuable feedback through the in-game survey, Steam discussions, Discord, and our other community channels.
While we may not be able to answer every message individually, please know that the team is carefully reviewing your comments. Your feedback will help us improve several aspects of Northgard Battlegrounds and shape the next steps of development.
We hope to welcome you back to the Battlegrounds so you can discover and enjoy the improvements made thanks to your feedback.
At the beginning of the Open Beta, members of the development team joined us for a special livestream dedicated to Northgard Battlegrounds.
During the stream, we presented the game, shared more information about our vision, and answered questions submitted by the community.

Here are a few of the questions that have been addressed during the stream:
Will more clans be added?
"That’s the idea. We first want to make sure the current clans are balanced, fun, and strategically distinct before introducing new ones."
Could a Duo or Co-op mode be added?
"We understand the demand and like the idea. However, the game is currently designed around PvP, and such a mode would require careful adaptation to its asynchronous structure."
Will the game receive DLC or other paid content?
"Northgard’s universe offers plenty of opportunities for future content. For now, our priority is improving the core game, and we’ll share more details when plans are confirmed."
Are there plans for esports?
"The game is not currently designed for esports, but we may introduce more competitive features as it evolves. Our priority remains building a fun and engaging core experience."
You fought, built, adapted and occasionally watched your carefully prepared strategy fall apart in spectacular fashion.
Here are a few highlights from the Open Beta:
More than 2M+ sessions started with 30M+battles were fought between July 9 and July 16.
Fun fact: the first wave of wolves managed to win 14,000 battles against our beta testers.
Some buildings proved especially effective on the Battlegrounds. Among the buildings with the highest win rates were:
Gate of Helheim – Home of the Valkyrie and the building with the highest win rate during the Open Beta
Bifröst
Mjölnir
Ancient's Wrath: Each MYTHICAL structure gains 10 Damage per DIVINE structure. - This specific rune comes with +60% win rate!"
Its popularity clearly made it a favourite among Vikings. But popularity does not always guarantee victory!
The team is super excited to dive deeper in all feedback, reports, and gameplay data to identify the most important areas to address! Stability was the primary focus of this test, but your responses also gave us useful insights into balance, clarity, progression, strategic variety, and the overall gameplay experience.
We cannot wait to share more information about the future of Northgard Battlegrounds as development progresses !
Until then, a huge thank you to every Viking who joined the battle, tested countless strategies, and helped us forge an even better Northgard Battlegrounds experience!
See you next time on the Battlegrounds!
