Lots of changes made over this week based on some user feedback and also things we wanted to try out. Our goal is still the gameplay and display in Concerts right now. So we'll mostly be iterating that scene to get things feeling right. Eventually we will add the store and other cards in to start building a complete Demo loop. For now things will still be very raw and on rails.
Change Notes
Scoring:
- Groove vs Vibe is now a "bullseye target rather than equal or greater than. So you can be plus or minus within a range now but go to far over or under and you'll be penalized.
- Skill vs Expectation multiplier has soft caps. After hitting X5, the increase will lower from 1x to 0.25x and lower again after hitting 8x to 0.1x per point over. Our goal is to balance the importance of this comparison vs the other comparison and add weight to other means of increasing score. i.e Genre bonus...
Cards:
- Selected cards can now be moved without having to unselect them first.
- Dynamic Card will now "light up" to indicate they are active!
Concert UI: A ton of changes here...
- Removed Volume style indicators and Score boxes.
- Added Performance meter to show comparisons on sliding scales.
- Restyled Motive (for genre and instrument combos) to make it stand out more.
- Moved Applaudience meter over to right above Play button.
- Moved Composure and Plays to top left above Motive.
- Added labels and tooltips to many UI elements to give hints in game. (The mouse may interfere a little)
- Changed some animations to go show cards going into Motive and Song genre played coming out of it.
- Moved Band Special display and Audience Events display closer to middle of screen.
Finals notes:
I will once again post some screenshots and more details regarding the new layout and mechanisms in the testers channel on our Discord for further Q&A with all testers. We encourage you to share ideas, questions, and thoughts in that channel so others can weigh in or help as well.
As always... Just a HUGE thank you to all who are helping with playtesting. We greatly appreciate you and your time! Hopefully it's a little fun as well?!
Thanks,
