Immortal Chess · published · build 25463750

Immortal Chess launches soon and this is the final major update before release.
Over the past few weeks, a lot has changed behind the scenes and in the game itself - from new progression systems and Steam Achievements to multiplayer improvements, visual polish, balance changes, and dozens of smaller quality-of-life updates.
Quests
A new Quest system is now available with three categories: General, Ranked, and Magic.
Quests track your progress across matches, chain into new challenges when completed, and reward Essence when claimed.
Whether you're experimenting with spells, playing Ranked, or simply learning the different classes, there is now always something to work toward.
25 Steam Achievements
Steam Achievements are now live.
There are 25 achievements covering different parts of the game, including wins, castling, en passant, Ranked Blitz, Bullet and Rapid, win streaks, and mastery challenges for every class and school of magic.
Board Arrows
You can now draw arrows directly on the board.
Right-click and drag between squares to create an arrow. Shift, Ctrl, and Alt can be used to switch between different colors, and drawing the same arrow again removes it.
Useful for planning moves, studying positions, or explaining exactly where that Fireball should have gone.
Stronger Online Matches
Online matches have received a major networking overhaul.
Moves, spells, Mana, status effects, and other important game actions are now validated by the server. This greatly reduces desyncs and prevents clients from forcing illegal game states.
The same ruleset is also shared between the server and every supported platform, helping PC and mobile stay completely in sync.
Reconnects have been improved as well, and losing connection should no longer leave a match in an inconsistent state.
Cross-Platform Progress
Accounts can be linked through Steam, Google, Apple, or email, with progress following you between supported devices.
The goal is simple: play wherever you want without starting over.
Visual & UI Polish
A large part of the game's presentation has been reworked and polished.
Boards, pieces, classes, spells, icons, and environments now share a much more consistent fantasy style, while promotions now match the board theme being used.
There are also many smaller improvements throughout the game, including spell premoves, keyboard shortcuts for spells, piece tooltips, improved shops and filters, a level-up screen, leaderboards, improved tutorials, replay controls and support for 10 languages.
Balance Improvements
Several classes, spells, Mana costs, durations, and passives have also been adjusted based on testing.
The goal of this pass was not to completely change the game, but to bring some of the stronger and weaker options closer together before launch.
Expect more balance updates after release as more matches are played.
Almost There

Thank you to everyone who has followed the game, wishlisted it, tested it, or shared feedback along the way.
