■ New: the official DeskForge website is live
DeskForge now has an official website of its own.
You will find it at https://xywinstudio.com/deskforge/, in seven languages: Traditional Chinese, English, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, German and Russian. It has the full product introduction, details of the add-on content, the privacy policy, and a press page where screenshots and animated images can be downloaded directly.
■ Official website
- The website is at https://xywinstudio.com/deskforge/ and can be opened directly from the website link on the Steam store page.
- Seven languages: Traditional Chinese, English, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, German and Russian, each with its own address.
- Added a press page with screenshots and animated images to download, for media and creators.
- Update announcements and discussion threads are pulled straight from Steam, so the website stays in sync automatically.
■ Steam store page redesigned
- The store page description has been rewritten in all fourteen languages.
- A new product trailer, new screenshots taken on a real desktop, and new animated demos.
■ New: icons fade in on grid-layout drawers
If you have turned down the icon opacity on a grid-layout drawer, the icons inside now brighten automatically as soon as the pointer enters the drawer. Rest on one of them and that icon goes to 100% while the others return to the opacity you set; move the pointer out of the drawer and everything goes back to how you set it. If your icon opacity is already brighter than this, nothing on screen changes.
■ Grid-layout drawers
- Added: with icon opacity turned down, the icons fade in together when the pointer enters the drawer, the icon under the pointer shows in full, and everything returns to your set opacity when the pointer leaves.
- The empty space around the cells no longer captures the pointer, so you can start a selection box right there.
■ Honeycomb drawers
- Fixed the drawer occasionally flickering open and shut when the pointer skimmed quickly past its edge.
- Fixed the grid not enlarging along with the icon at some positions while the grid was on, making the icon look clipped at a corner.
- Fixed icons in the outermost ring losing a corner when enlarged, after a custom boundary had been drawn.
- With icon opacity turned down, the icon under the pointer now becomes clear gradually, in step with the enlarge animation.
- Fixed icons occasionally bouncing back before settling into place when dropped with the grid turned off.
- Much smoother icon dragging in drawers with many icons.
■ Drawers
- Fixed "Send to DeskForge drawer" in the File Explorer right-click menu sometimes sending nothing when several files were selected.
- Much shorter loading wait for drawers with many icons, both when opening them and at startup; icons now appear in batches.
- Much shorter wait when switching between grid and honeycomb layouts.
■ Widgets - Text display
- Fixed the bottom edge of names being cut off in Clock Tools in some languages.
- Adjusted the base text size of city names on the World Clock, so they no longer overpower the clock itself.
- Fixed the text of an overly long custom alarm label possibly spilling outside its box.
■ Widgets - Settings and appearance
- Fixed changing the city name on the Mechanical Dial in another time zone mode not responding with certain fonts and not being saved.
- Fixed the World Clock and Pomodoro Timer possibly staying on the previewed font, and saving it, after changing the font and pressing Cancel.
- In the settings windows of all six widgets, pressing Esc or the close button now counts as "Cancel", and previewed changes are reverted.
- Fixed the System Monitor's text possibly shifting position when background transparency was set to either extreme.
■ Settings windows
- Much smoother slider response throughout the appearance settings.
- The font list no longer includes legacy bitmap fonts that cannot display properly.
■ Finally
Thank you to everyone who reported an issue or sent us a suggestion — your feedback is where every update begins.
DeskForge is a one-time purchase, maintained for the long run: features you have already paid for will never be moved behind a subscription, and your desktop layout will never be moved to the cloud. We will keep fixing and adding, at no extra cost.
If you run into anything, use "Report a Problem" in the About window to tell us directly.
P.S. For the quickest update, we suggest quitting Steam completely and starting it again.
