We're Back for Season 8!

After a short break while Akane took some time to focus on their health, the Zeepkist Level Contests and Super League are back for Season 8!

Thank you for your patience while events were on pause, I'm looking forward to another six months of building, racing and community-created levels!

Season 8: Mixed Surfaces

Build a level using a mix of different track materials! Use at least 4 different material categories, with each forming a meaningful part of the racing line.

Theme Requirements

  • Your level MUST use at least 4 of the following track material categories:
    • Tarmac / Plastic / Concrete
    • Wood / Planks / Barrier
    • Bricks / Roof Tiles / Cobblestone / Pavement / Square Tiles
    • Grass / Leaves
    • Mud / Flesh
    • Sand / Snow
    • Ice / Soap
    • Metal / Glass

  • Each material category MUST form a meaningful section of the racing line. Briefly touching or crossing a material does not count towards the required 4.
  • Materials used only for decoration, scenery or structures outside the racing surface do not count.
  • Different colours or variants of the same listed category do not count separately. For example, Sand and Snow together still count as one Sand / Snow category. Using any brick/tile material counts as the same Bricks category.

Everything else is up to you! Mix and match the materials however you like and get creative with how the different surfaces shape your level.

Contest Schedule

Building Period: 6th September – Sunday, 27th September

  • 10:00 PDT / 13:00 EDT / 18:00 BST / 19:00 CEST

Super League Community Vote: Sunday, 27th September – Sunday, 4th October
Super League: Sunday, 11th October 2026

After submissions close, the community will vote to select 14 levels to be raced in the corresponding Zeepkist Super League round.

Contest Rules

Follow any theme-specific requirements listed above, in addition to:

  • One submission per player. You may replace or update your submission until the deadline.
  • Collaborations of up to 3 builders are allowed. A collaboration counts as the submission for every listed builder.
  • Levels MUST be created during the current contest period. Existing or previously published levels cannot be submitted.
  • Levels MUST have a completion time between 25 and 60 seconds when driven at a reasonable pace along the intended route. Levels outside this range will be disqualified.
  • Levels MUST contain at least 3 checkpoints. Add additional checkpoints where necessary to prevent shortcuts or make the intended route clear.
  • The intended route MUST be clear, consistent and reasonably raceable. No hidden routes, hidden linked checkpoints, misleading/risky finishes or other elements that make progression unnecessarily difficult to understand.
  • Levels may contain a maximum of 3,000 blocks.
  • Logic 2.0 is allowed and encouraged! You may freely use logic blocks, moving blocks, gates, triggers, timers and other Logic 2.0 mechanics.
  • Random/RNG logic blocks are NOT allowed. These are the Logic 2.0 blocks identified by a cheese icon in-game. Levels using any cheese/random blocks will be disqualified, as Level Contest tracks must behave consistently between attempts.

Building for Super League

Every Level Contest submission has a chance of being selected by the community as one of the 14 levels raced in the monthly Zeepkist Super League tournament.

When building, aim for a level that players across a wide range of skill levels can understand and complete. The challenge should come from finding better lines, carrying more speed and improving your time, rather than simply trying to reach the finish.

Try to keep the level consistent between runs. Avoid unreliable physics, overly precise mandatory tricks or obstacles where timing outside the player's control can decide whether a run succeeds.

Checkpoints should make the route clear and prevent major unintended shortcuts without getting in the way of the racing. Add extra checkpoints where they provide useful split times or stop obvious cuts.

A good Super League level should be accessible to finish, while leaving plenty of room for racers to optimise their time.

These are guidelines, not additional submission rules. Creative, unusual and experimental levels are encouraged!

How to Submit

  1. Upload your finished level to the Zeepkist Steam Workshop.
  2. Prefix the Workshop level name with "ZSL - ". (e.g "ZSL - Awesome Level Name")
  3. Submit your Workshop link in the corresponding Level Contest thread on the Official Zeepkist Discord before the deadline.
  4. If you do not have Discord, link your submission in the comments of this Steam announcement thread.

Submit your level on Discord

If you are collaborating with other builders, make sure every contributor is clearly listed with your submission when posting your Discord message or Steam comment.

You may update your Workshop level or replace your submission at any point before the deadline.

Community Vote & Super League

Once building ends, the community will have one week to vote for their favourite eligible submissions.

The 14 selected levels will then be published as the official Super League playlist, giving racers one week to practice before the ZSL tournament.

There are no prizes for having your level selected for Super League. Voting for the Level Contest Best Decoration and Best Track Layout awards is separate and does not affect which levels are selected for Super League.

Join the Official Zeepkist Discord to get notified when community voting starts and stay up-to-date with playlist and tournament announcements.

Prizes

The community will also vote separately for their favourite levels in two Level Contest categories:

  • Creators of the 4 best decorated levels
  • Creators of the 4 best track layout levels

Each winner will receive both exclusive Season 7-8 Level Contest Soapbox cosmetics:

  • Black F-9000 Soapbox with Yellow Accent
  • Yellow F-9000 Soapbox with Black Accent

Winners who are members of the Official Zeepkist Discord will also receive 6,000 Discord Chat XP.

Rewards will be distributed in a future Zeepkist update.
