1. What is Mexican Ninja?

Mexican Ninja is a fast-paced roguelike beat ’em up set in Nuevo Tokyo. You fight through hordes of Narkuzas using combos, weapons, upgrades, and powerful Mexican Jutsus while building a stronger run as you progress.

2. When does Mexican Ninja launch?
Mexican Ninja launches on August 20, 2026 on Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox.

3. Is there a demo?
Yes. The final pre-launch demo is available on Steam until the August 19th, letting you try the combat, progression, and core gameplay loop before release.

4. Is the game Steam Deck compatible?
Yes. Mexican Ninja is officially Steam Deck Verified.

5. What kind of game is it?
Mexican Ninja combines beat ’em up combat with roguelike progression. You’ll fight through combat encounters, choose upgrades, experiment with builds, and become increasingly powerful over the course of a run.

6. What are Mexican Jutsus?
Mexican Jutsus are powerful special abilities that can completely change how you approach combat, from crowd control to huge screen-filling attacks.

7. Can I create different builds?
Yes. You’ll choose upgrades throughout a run, allowing you to experiment with different combinations, playstyles, and increasingly ridiculous builds.

8. Is combat combo-based?
Very much so. The combat system is built around chaining attacks, launches, aerial follow-ups, counters, Jutsus, and other abilities together to create long and increasingly elaborate combos.

9. Are there boss fights?
Yes. Nuevo Tokyo is packed with larger-than-life bosses, each with their own attacks, patterns, and personality.

10. Is Mexican Ninja difficult?
Yes. The game is designed to reward mastery, timing, and experimentation, but the roguelike progression means you’re constantly gaining new tools and learning how different builds work.

11. Is there permanent progression between runs?
Yes, both mechanical and cosmetic skins are available as permanent unlocks.

12. Is Mexican Ninja co-op?
No, Mexican Ninja is currently a single-player experience.

13. How long is the game?
Playtime will vary depending on your skill level, how much you experiment with builds, and how thoroughly you explore the game’s progression systems. We'd wager around 8h for a first clear and 15h+ for all the side-content.

14. Does the game have multiple characters?
No. But you have different skins that provide different attribute bonuses.

15. What is Nuevo Tokyo?
Nuevo Tokyo is the setting of Mexican Ninja, a world blending Mexican and Japanese influences into a colorful, chaotic city controlled by the Narkuza.

16. Who are the Narkuzas?
The Narkuzas are the criminal forces standing between el ninja and his goal, ranging from regular enemies to increasingly bizarre and dangerous bosses.
