Hi everyone, I am the creator of Farming Engine, and today I want to announce the demo release of an upcoming game I am working on: Woodland Rebels, which will release on August 20.
While Farming Engine was just a simple template and proof of concept, we are currently working on a much more polished game called Woodland Rebels. And a free demo will be released in about 2 weeks.
Woodland Rebels is a 2D survival game that incorporates some colony sim elements. Your goal is to rally the animals of the forest to your side in order to face a growing threat: Humans.
Sandbox survival game with randomly generated worlds.
Focus on building a community to survive as opposed to surviving alone.
Craft, build, assign tasks to villagers and recruit rebels to your side to help you fight!
Bip is the first rebel you can recruit to fight at your side.
You control a main character, but as you explore the world, you will start encountering other animals just like you. Those villagers can be assigned roles. Villagers with roles will perform tasks automatically to help the town. It's important to assign the roles properly in a town otherwise the villagers may lack food or other resources that they need, which will decrease their mood. Villagers with good mood are better at fighting, will give you better trade deals, and work faster!

Once your relation with a town is at least "ally". You can recruit some of the villagers to join your rebellion. Those villagers can be summoned in battle by blowing the rebellion horn.
Blowing the rebellion horn will summon your group of rebels to fight at your side!
From hanging net traps, to giant acorn launcher, to metal bear traps (or human traps in this case). There are so many ways to repel human enemies in addition to direct combat. Get the help of another NPC animal, assign them as follower, and they will fight with you!

The world is filled with mystery and danger. Explore caves with puzzles, crypts with monsters, or just assemble a group of rebels to attack a human camp! Sometimes, you will find a treasure map leading you to riches you can dig. Or a scroll with strange inscriptions that need to be decrypted.
A really mysterious entrance inside the caves.
Skeletons keep reviving! Make sure to destroy their pile of bones on the floor.
Woodland Rebels is set in a strange world. Some animals have morphed into villager form, but some are still in their true original form. You can care for those true-form animals by taming them, raising them for eggs and milk, or using them as a mount or to carry items.
Horseback archery!
Ducks provide eggs, a great food source for your town.
Place eggs inside an incubator to hatch it.
You can also grow crops, and catch fish with a fishing rod. In winter, you can make a hole in the ice to keep fishing.

From platforms in the trees, houses, crafting stations, plants and decors... There are tons of possible ways to build your town.
Want to befriend a town by helping them complete tasks? So that they join your ranks, help you collect materials, and teach you new recipes? You Can! Prefer to play the villain and instead attack the town, steal all their items, and put a target on your back? It is also possible.
If you steal, expect the townsfolk to be angry.
