Hello, everyone!
This is Laputa Games!
Today, we'd like to show you how Suji's IRL stream is being improved based on all the feedback you've shared with us after playing the demo!
If you've played the demo, you may have wondered what exactly "Chicken Mode" (previously called Coward Mode) was supposed to do...
Originally, it was an option designed to lower the difficulty of things like QTEs.
The problem was that there wasn't really any explanation for it...
And more importantly, it barely felt any different at all.
So we've decided to make Chicken Mode's effects much more straightforward and noticeable!
From now on, when Chicken Mode is enabled, failing most QTEs will no longer result in a Game Over!
This mode is intended for players who want to focus on enjoying the story without getting worn out by the difficulty.
And don't worry—it has absolutely no effect on the story itself!
It seems like a lot of players felt caught off guard whenever a QTE suddenly appeared.
You're still trying to figure out what you're supposed to do, and meanwhile, the clock is already ticking...
So we've made a few changes:
a. Redesigned the QTE interface so you can understand what to do more quickly
b. Increased the time limits to give players a little more breathing room
With these changes, we're working to make the overall QTE difficulty much more manageable!
A lot of players pointed out that Suji's mouth movements could feel unnatural.
Sometimes her mouth would stop moving before the voice line had even finished,
while other times she would keep moving her mouth long after the voice line was already over.
So we've changed the system!
Now, Suji's mouth movements are synchronized with the voice acting itself.
We think it looks much more natural now, too!
Do you remember how pressing a certain key in the demo would make Suji start dancing?
We're currently working on making that feature more stable,
while also adding a variety of new dance animations!
This feature is...
for whenever you feel like dancing!
(Unfortunately, you won't be able to use it during chase sequences.)
Although the demo can technically be played with a gamepad,
we couldn't really recommend doing so in its current state.
Most of our development team primarily played the game using a keyboard and mouse,
so gamepad controls weren't something we had paid enough attention to.
However, after releasing the demo, we realized that there are quite a few players who want to play with a controller!
So we've urgently gotten our hands on a PlayStation controller and are currently testing the game in that environment.
We'll do our best to have a proper and comfortable gamepad control setup ready before release!
It's been one week since we released the demo,
and we've received an incredible amount of attention and feedback.
Thanks to all of you,
we've been able to discover many issues and awkward details that we hadn't noticed ourselves.
There isn't much time left until Suji's IRL stream finally begins...
Until then, we'll keep giving it everything we've got
and continue working hard on the game!
